Gramin Mahila SrijanshilPariwar (GMSP) is a community-based nonprofit and non-government organization, located in Sindhupalchok district. GMSP, with the support and collaboration of The Johanniter International Assistance, is implementing Child Protection Project to reduce child trafficking and slavery issues by establishing and strengthening community level child protection mechanism in the project area.  The organization is seeking for a qualified candidate to fulfill the following vacant position to implement for the same project. 

Designation: Project Manager (for Child Protection Project) 

Required No: 1 (one) 

Location: Sindhupalchok District 

Duty station: Office based with frequent travel to project area

Report to: Executive Director

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project Manager will be in charge of all the project activities related to child protection and ensure the quality of project. Moreover, Project Manager will be responsible for:  

Project Management

  • Developing a realistic, prioritized, results-based work plan project activities implementation, coordination, supervision, tracking and quality assurance. 
  • Effectively managing daily program, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting at field level. 
  • Ensure the quality delivery of the project.
  • Troubleshoot challenges which arise in project cycle management.
  • Conduct routine program reviews to ensure successful implementation

Project Development:

  • Provide direct technical support and capacity to GMSP staff in program design, training development, program implementation, and developing strategic directions related to child protectionissues. 

Project Implementation

  • Provide adequate support to project staff to for the project activities implementation, as stipulated in the detail implementation plan and budget.
  • Implement planned activities under self-implementation in close consultation with GMSP management and track budget vs expenses on monthly basis. 
  • Organize meeting, workshop to implement the project and building the capacity of concerned stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and follow up of the community actions along with adequate documentation and communication with relevant section and stakeholders

Team management and capacity building:

  • Proper management of the project team, coach, mentor and develop the capacity to project staff. 
  • Identify priority areas for capacity building of Child Protection to project staff and provide training and technical support solutions.

Coordination, collaboration and networking:

  • Coordinate with other NGOs/INGOs on issues of common advocacy related to child protection.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with as well as maintaining good relationships and contacts with Rural Municipality/Municipality, District Child Welfare Board, District Administration Office, Police, Ward and municipality level level Child Protection mechanism,Social Leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Rural Municipality in developing child protectionpolicies/plan and guidelines.
  • To actively work jointly with Local Coordination Committee Against Human Trafficking, Child Protection Committees, Municipality, Rural Municipality, Ward Office, Schools, Children’s Club, SHG, parents/guardians/leaders and other stakeholders through joint planning, training and monitoring for child protection.

Reporting:

  • Developing and submitting reports as required on project initiation, progress, closeout and/or any alternative compliance reports necessary for projects.
  • Ensure documentation of case studies, best practices, news cuttings, process, visual documentation and other as per project requirement. 
  • Developing and submitting update reporting as required by GMSP management

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree( Master's Degree is highly preferable)  in any social subjects. 
  • At least two years of working experience in child rights and child protection issues. 
  • Good understanding of Nepal’s national policy and guidelines on child rights and child protection. 
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches and community sensitization and mobilization.
  • Sound knowledge on child rights, child protection, child friendly local governance and child safe guarding. 
  • High level of sensitivity and commitment to ensure child rights and child protection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali
  • Strong organizational & supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work within a team structure or independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural & stressful environments.
  • Familiarity and functional competence in Microsoft Office and other applications.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to project sites.
  • Eager to carry other responsibility as per the need of organization apart from the written JD.
