Position Title: Project Clerk 

Duty Station:  Kathmandu, Nepal

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade 3

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term 6 months with possibility of extension

IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context: 

Under the overall guidance of the National Program Officer and direct supervision of National Project Officer in the Labour Migration and Human Development (LHD) unit, the Project Clerk will assist in the implementation of the project on “Increasing the Capacity of Migrant Resource Centers (MRCs) in Nepal to Foster Safe, Humane and Orderly Migration” that aims to enhance MRCs’ existing capacity in providing services and access to accurate information on migration and recruitment processes thereby supporting the Government of Nepal’s efforts in ensuring safe and orderly migration. 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Provide clerical assistance in the implementation of project related activities (such as development of the web supported database, development of Service Level Agreement (SLA) for MRCs and Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for MRC staff, trainings and orientation of the MRC counsellors, development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, field monitoring and evaluation visits among others) in coordination with peers at the Foreign Employment Promotion Board, Department of Foreign Employment, Ministry of Labour and Employment and the project partners.
  • Assist with the logistics of the trainings/workshops/field visits and Project Steering Committee meetings.
  • Draft invitation letters of the workshops/ trainings/ meetings (in English and Nepali).
  • Draft minutes of meetings and reports of workshops/training. 
  • Maintain the project file and correspondence records.
  • Assist the National Project Officer in developing project interim and final reports for submission to the IOM Development Fund (IDF).
  • Participate in the field monitoring visits as required.
  • Closely interact with labour migration team and assist in the implementation of other project related activities and events as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Social Science, Management or relevant  field with 1 year work experience on related field; Or
  • Completed High School Degree with 3 years’ work experience in related field.

Experience 

  • Strong inter-personal skills, communication, networking and team-building skills;
  • Ability to perform effectively in a culturally diverse work environment;
  • Sensitivity towards the Gender issues and vulnerable communities;
  • Prior work experience on migration related issues will be an added advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
