Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation (EBMF) is an NGO supported by the Esther Benjamins Trust UK.  The Foundation is currently based in Satdobato, Lalitpur. For the last several years, it has worked with the rescue, rehabilitation, community school support and long-term care of displaced and marginalised Nepali children. It works to prevent trafficking of children from vulnerable rural communities across the country. We are seeking a candidate who has passion to work in a dynamic team.

Position: Programme Coordinator (Lalitpur based)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementation and co-ordination of development plans for the Children Care Home Project and Makwanpur Project in accordance with project description, guidelines and approved budget.
  • Development of the annual operational development plan of EBMF.
  • Development of project plans, budget, strategies, implementation guidelines and procedures.
  • Development of effective mechanisms for community needs identification, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • Development of a process and format for ensuring quality standards within the projects.
  • Liaison with relevant stakeholders.
  • Administrative arrangements for external and internal evaluations at the direction of the EBT-N.
  • Representation on behalf of the EBMF and compliance with local statutory and NGO legal requirements.
  • Monitoring, supervision and line management of staff in the EBMF.
  • Assurance of logistics and materials supports to the projects and regular field visits in project districts.
  • Execution of district based training, orientation and workshops as and when required.
  • Responsible for project needs identification, planning and implementation.
  • Preparation of periodic consolidated progress reports for EBT- N and other related project partners.
  • Preparation and development of concept notes, project proposals by mobilising the project team.
  • Representation of the EBMF and establishment of coordination with all concerned Government and Non-Government Organisations.

STAFF MANAGEMENT:

  • Monitoring and supervision of staff including their performance management and periodic appraisal.
  • Preparation of staffing plans and be involved in their capacity building activities.
  • Assessment of the training and development needs of the project staff and preparation of the Development Plan for approval.
  • Assurance of project staff works as a team and effective communication at all levels within the organisation.
  • Accomplishment of any other tasks assigned by the EBMF/EBT-N

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate degree from a credible university in Development Studies, Social Science, Public or Business Administration. Master degree is preferred in the subjects above.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Proven experience in community development sector and thorough knowledge on the roles of NGOs in the development context of Nepal.
  • At least 2 years experiences in staff management and supervisory roles.
  • Experience in project management and overseeing large multi-donor projects.
  • Excellent in interpersonal relation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a creative mind, and diplomatic skills.
  • Excellent judgment, decision making skills, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience of presenting to senior management.
  • Ability to write good reports with Nepali and English computer typing skills.
  • Good knowledge in programme budgeting in MS Excel programming.
  • Ability to ride motorcycle with valid driving license.

WORKING HOURS:

Working hours are normally 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch. However, the post holder may need to frequently work out of hours or at weekends. The employment is on a contractual basis and renewable.
