Environment, Culture, Agriculture, Research and Development Society Nepal (ECARDS-Nepal) is a NGO based in Kathmandu. ECARDS Nepal with Joint venture of Federation of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN) Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap and Khotang district chapter is implementing part of Multi Stakeholder Forestry Programme (MFSP) in central east cluster-Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga and Khotang Districts. For this programme, ECARDS-Nepal is seeking applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the following position based in District Programme Implementation Office Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap and Khotang. Duration of the contract will be upto the programme period (i.e. Feb, 2015) with possibility of extension upto June 2016.

Total Number Required: One (Based in Manthali Ramechhap)  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 The major responsibility of the Programme Associate (PA) is to Support District Programme Implementation Office (DPIO) for smooth implementation of the MSFP programme. PA will work under the direct supervision of District Coordinator and will be responsible for assisting DPIO together with MSFP partner/stakeholders for implementation of field level livelihood, climate change adaptation and enterprise focused activities. The Incumbent will provide frontline support to local partners/stakeholders in formation of local forest user groups, revision of their operational plans, preparation/implementation of local level climate change adaptation plans, preparation/implementation of business plans of enterprises, management of field level data and conducting different capacity building events.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/ KEY COMPETENCIES

·      Intermediate in any discipline preferably in NRM fields.  Fresh Bachelors with sound experience of FUG formation and OP revision can also apply. 

·   More than 3 years proven working experience in formation of forest user groups, revision of forest operational plan climate change adaptation planning, social mobilization, enterprise promotion or related field.

·  Clear understanding of cross cutting issues of development like gender, poverty, governance and climate change.

·     Interest and willingness to work with poor/disadvantaged/climate vulnerable households of remote area.

·     High level of adaptability to work in multicultural environment with multiple stakeholders/ partners.

·     High level of proficiency in using computer software (esp. office packages).  

·   Candidate with valid driving license (two wheeler) and with experience of development programs/projects will add value.
