Position (1): Program Officer – Livelihoods and Microfinance 

The Program Officer will be required to provide technical assistance and work closely with partner NGOs in Sindhupalchowk, Kavreplanchowk, Nuwakot and Kathmandu districts, as well as other district level stakeholders. S/he should be willing to walk and work in remote areas.  

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Finance, Sociology or equivalent work experience in relevant field.

Job Description

Job Title: Program Officer

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Supervisor: Project Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Program Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator.  She/he will also be required to work and liaise closely with Punar Nirman Jibikoparjan (PNJ), GMSP and MANK of Sindhupalchowk, NTWG of Kavreplanchowk, Utprerana Nepal of Nuwakot and Pourakhi of Kathmandu district, and other district level stakeholders.   

Major responsibilities

  • Conducting and facilitating Livelihood and Microfinance activities that includes saving and credit training, Livelihood training, Agro-forestry Nursery Training, orientation, review meetings, assessments and ongoing monitoring and  evaluation of project activities 
  • Providing technical support to NGO partners, Women Groups, Agro-Forestry Nursery, Livestock, small business and government line agencies 
  • Coordinating and supervising all project related activities in four (4) assigned districts, including liaison work with local sub-grantees, and monitoring NGO grant disbursement activities;
  • Assisting the Project Coordinator with project planning, implementation and evaluation;
  • Collecting and contributing to preparation of periodic progress reports based on donor and management requirements
  • Financial oversight of NGO partners in designated areas, including review of budgets, project expenses and monthly vouchers.
  • Coordinating project activities in the assigned four districts;

Qualifications / Experiences

  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting trainings
  • Minimum two (2) years work experience with preference to Microfinance
  • Possesses Bachelors Degree in Commerce/finance, Sociology or equivalent work experience in relevant field
  • Willingness to walk and work in remote areas
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle
  • Basic computer knowledge on MS Word, Excel, Power point  
  • Strong communications and facilitation skills
