Overview:
FutureSense supports local communities and organisations in developing countries, through a range of ethical volunteering programmes. Focusing on Education, Child Welfare, Healthcare, and Livelihoods, each country builds programmes that are based around the needs of the communities we work with. Through these programmes we offer opportunities for individuals and groups to travel overseas and do something worthwhile, while working to forward our organisational objectives and ensure more sustainable living for our communities. Our volunteer opportunities include a gap year programme (GapGuru), a programme for serious volunteers and those on a career break (Inspire) and programmes for groups (Challenges Abroad).
 
FutureSense currently has programmes operating across 7 countries and supporting over 100 local community based partners and NGO projects. Most of our volunteers work alongside local teachers in schools or work with local NGOs involved with community development and in child or health care.
 
We are now looking for a strong candidate to fulfil the role of Program Manager in Nepal (Dhulikhel and Kathmandu area - based in Dhulikhel). As the supervisor of all hub activities and programmes, we require excellent management experience and communication skills to develop and manage our range of programmes, and previous volunteering experience with knowledge and understanding of the development sector. Experience in delivering community development and/or environmental protection projects of a similar nature and scale and previous experience either with FutureSense or a similar organisation in a management role is highly desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Define and strengthen our programmes, their scope, the impact, and sustainability
  • Ensure our programmes are in line with the UN development goals for sustainability
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate our Key Performance Indicators
  • Identify areas of growth through research, needs assessments, and partner evaluations
  • Develop effective working relationships with local communities and partners to ensure community needs are being met and our programme outputs are effective
  • Promote the creation of new programmes and projects consistent with the ethos of the organisation.
  • Provide support to volunteers, helping them settle into the country and achieve their programme objectives and make the most of their time in-country
  • To aid in the development and long-term planning of local programmes and how to measure impact and success

Required Qualification:

  • Fluent English (written and spoken) 
  • Master’s degree (Highly preferred but not required)
  • Experience living and working abroad and/or with people from different cultures (minimum of 3 years)
  • Able to manage multiple projects, strong organisational skills, and strong time management skills
  • Comfortable working in a flexible environment and prepared to go above and beyond and work long hours
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Skilled in developing professional relationships
  • Budgeting and financial management experience
  • Strong people management skills and experience of managing groups, staff and volunteers
  • Strong project planning skills and a proven track record of project delivery
  • A good understanding and experience of international community development, education and skill development issues
  • Able to enthuse others on key issues and contribute to strategic planning
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality training and experiential learning in an effective and safe way for youth and adult audiences using a variety of media and styles to maximise learning and outcomes
  • Ability to motivate and support staff to achieve success consistently
  • The ability to deal with conflict and overcome challenges
