POSITION: Midwife - Skilled Birth Attendant
Base: Ramechhap District
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :
Technical support for all SRH activities (ANC, PNC, FP, deliveries, newborn care, GBV, STI and gynecology) organized in the by MdM supported health facilities (+/- 10 health facilities, of which 5 birthing centers (2 out of 5 will have BEONC services installed during the project) and 5 other health facilities.
- More specifically, the midwife will: Work together with public health staff for on-the-spot training
- Organize formal in-house training (SRH in general, FP, GBV)
- Assist the SRH coordinator in the preparation and implementation of formal external training (BEONC, GBV)
- Monitor the quality of care provided in the health structures in the midwife’s catchment area
- Collecting regularly data and train (if needed) health post staff on data collection and analysis
- Discuss and follow up on technical issues with the SRH Coordinator
- Participate in the monthly activity (and other) report writing
- Maintain up-to-date the context analysis and assess regularly the availability and accessibility of SRH services and people’s vulnerability in the area under her supervision
- Coordination with NGOs, international organizations & local associations in the area under her supervision
- Carry out any other task related to her job contents upon request of the SRH Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Minimum a degree of ANM, additionally trained as SBA, preferably a bachelor’s degree of staff nurse / midwife, additionally trained as SBA
- At least 3 years of experience in SRH in rural areas (mandatory)
- Knowledge of public health issues, including needs assessment and project evaluation
- Good oral and written English
- Pedagogic / trainer skills
- A good listener with excellent communication skills and diplomatic attitude
- Diplomacy, reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives, gender awareness and sensitiveness
