The Kakani Centre for Development of Community (KCDC) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1993, and since then has implemented projects in the sectors of children trafficking, HIV/AIDS, child labor, health and nutrition, education, agriculture and disaster risk reduction with gender as a cross-cutting issue in partnership with Nepal government and other agencies. KCDC is now implementing the 'Humanitarian Assistance to People Affected by Earthquake' project in the VDCs of Nuwakot district in partnership of Oxfam GB. Kakani Center for Development of Community - KCDC is a Community Based, relief, development and advocacy, Non-Governmental Organization, non-profit, non-political and Voluntary Service Organization (VSO) and it was created in 1993. Their entire staffs is mobilized daily to cover the basic needs of poor vulnerable children, women, marginalized or excluded by  the effects of natural disasters, wars and situations of economic collapse, poverty and injustice. KCDC is based in Bidur Chowk, operates in the areas of child development, women's empowerment, food security, health, nutrition, rehabilitation of infrastructure, shelter, water and sanitation (WASH) and economic recovery, education, elimination of child labor, safe migration, stop human trafficking, Fighting against CSEC and Recovery of Livelihood. With strong complementary technical expertise in the humanitarian field, international partner and KCDC and their common goal to provide a comprehensive response to emergency, health and nutrition, WASH, livelihood, awareness, school buildings construction, library erection, agro-forestry, child and women's empowerment, capacity building in Poor and Vulnerable Community in Nuwakot District by implementing different Program activities.

KCDC in partnership with Oxfam is implementing the Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project in different VDCs of Nuwakot. KCDC is seeking to fill the following positions inviting applications from interested and highly motivated candidates.

Position Title: Livelihood Assistant

Required No. 1

Duration & Location: Fixed term till March 2018 base in program field in Nuwakot

Brief Description: 

  • Overall Responsible & take lead the EFSVL programme in planning, implementing and monitoring of each and every EFSVL activities, in close coordination and consultation with thematic officers (Related VDC)
  • Take lead role in assessment and selection of cooperatives, design cooperative strengthening and cooperative led interventions for sustainable livelihood recovery and make livelihood resilient. 
  • Technical backstopping to Social Mobilizes for selection verification of groups/cooperatives, irrigation schemes and implementation of interventions
  • Support thematic officers to implementation of alternative livelihood component of EFSVL program 
  • Responsible for overall management of trainings like agricultural, livestock producers groups, leader farmers, cooperatives and stakeholders at ward level.
  • Take supportive role on establishment of improved production plots, business plan preparation of cooperatives and SMMEs, vocational trainings as alternative source of livelihoods.
  • Support to thematic officers for preparing regular programme reports through updating and tracking the regular reports (both narrative and financial).
  • Ensure gender equity and humanitarian principles are mainstreamed. 
  • Help thematic officer to establish a good relationship with other thematic members of the different team to integrate the issues related to EFSVL and work closely with other thematic member for integration with other component like WASH, gender and protection, shelter and DRR.
  • Establish and maintain good coordination with local authorities like rural municipality, User group, Club, Mothers group, as well as line agencies like Schools, HP and other concerned agencies for advocacy on the EFSVL issues.
  • Arrange necessary documents of EFSVL interventions collect regular update, case stories, success stories and good practices from field staffs and submit the report to livelihood officer as per the reporting timeline.
  • Field plan and preparation for concerns partners visit. 

Eligibility

  • Education-At least Intermediate degree in relevant subject or equivalent with 1 year of experience in livelihood sector.
  • Computer literate in Office package (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power point)
  • Good written and spoken English is essential. Previous working experience with non-governmental organizations.  
  • Experience in emergency and early recovery program. Mature and professional attitude and approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations with multicultural and multi ethnic teams, including working with partner organizations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
