Litigation Lawyer

Advocacy Forum (AF), a non-profit and non-governmental human rights organization, is looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Nepali citizen for the following post.
JOB TITLE: Litigation Lawyer
DUTY STATION: Kathmandu
JOB PROFILE:
Under the supervision of Director and Program Coordinator, the Litigation Lawyer will be directly responsible for litigating cases related to Migrant Workers before courts and other mechanisms at national and international level.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document cases of migrant workers and collect evidence
- Prepare FIRs, petitions or applications related to migrant workers for filing cases before courts and other relevant authorities
- Represent cases in the courts and other mechanisms
- Follow up and update cases regularly
- Draft or provide assistance on PILs
- Develop strategies for strategic litigation of emblematic cases
- Assist the team in project related publication and research work
- Identify and liaise with concerned stakeholders
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE
- LLM with minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in active litigation (or Bachelor of Law with minimum 10 years’ relevant experience)
- Sound knowledge on national and international laws regarding the rights of migrant workers
- Experience in research, report writing, advocacy and training
- Experience in liaison and coordination with partner organizations and stakeholders will be an additional advantage
- Good command over written and spoken English
- Sound computer skills
- Flexibility in working hours, and capability to work under pressures within a diverse group
Remuneration will be Rs. 50000/- to 60000/- per month based on relevant experience and qualification of the candidate. Duration of the contract is initially for 1 year with performance based possible extension.
