Infrastructure Officer/ Infrastructure Assistant

Janahit Gramin Sewa Samiti (JGSS) is a Sindhupalchowk based NGO, registered in 1992, is pioneer in conducting economic development, social mobilization, local governance, poverty reduction, health, and sanitation and hygiene promotion programs in the district.

JGSS, in partnership with Oxfam, is implementing Nepal Earthquake Recovery and reconstruction in Sindhupalchok district. In order to execute the project activities in Sindhupalchowk district, we are hiring competent staffs for the following positions.

1.JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Officer (1)

LOCATION: Sindhupalchok

REPORTING LINES: Program Coordinator

• Shall be primarily responsible and would be the lead person to construct EQ resistant permanent houses linking with livelihood and wash facilities
• Support labor, material, and transportation to relocation sites
• Support to line agencies to develop integrated settlement plan
• Prepare integrated plan for WaSH and livelihood
• Support labor, material, and transportation to relocation sites
• Capacity building of technical human resources in new technology and reconstruction policy of government
• Capacity building of technical human resources in new technology and reconstruction policy of government
• Establishment and operation of CSEB production unit in housing sites
• Establishment of stone cutting unit
• Support in development of business plan for market linkage
• Maintain good relationship and work with district NRA engineers, DLPIU Engineers Palika level engineer
• Provide the technical  backstopping and mobilize infrastructure assistant
• Conduct regular monitoring of shelter activities at field and provide technical inputs as required
• Collect and provide all information and written/orally reports on the progress of the activities on a daily and weekly basis as per established reporting format
• Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to Program Coordinator

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES :

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experiences in earthquake resilience construction with relevant experience working in humanitarian sector.
• Report writing skills
• Should have  program and financial management skills
• Experience on construction supervision
• Familiar with the government policy of reconstruction, building code and implementing strategy , retrofitting technique,etc.
• Knowledge and experience on gender equality and social inclusion.
• Good written and oral communication skills, in both Nepali and English
• Willing to stay in remote communities and displaced sites of the Sindhupalchowk

2.JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Assistant (2)

LOCATION: Sindhupalchok

REPORTING LINES: Infrastructure Officer

• Support Infrastructural Officer to construct EQ resistant permanent houses linking with livelihood and wash facilities
• Full time support in the sites
• Support record keeping of labor, mobilize and support labor to construct integrated settlement
• Support labor, material, and transportation to relocation sites
• Monitor to establish and operation of CSEB production unit in housing sites
• Support in development of business plan for market linkage
• Maintain good relationship with all stakeholders in sites
• Provide the technical  backstopping to the beneficiaries and labor
• Support for the report preparation

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES :

• Diploma in Civil Engineering with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in building construction & humanitarian/development field
• Team-working skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to work long hours. .
• Good written and spoken English and Nepali
• Willing to stay in remote areas  and relocation sites in Sindhupalchowk
