Duty Station: Various Districts

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade G5

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term 3 months with possibility of extension

Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the HRRP Project Coordinator and direct supervision of Information Management Officer, the incumbent will support IOM Nepal’s earthquake recovery and reconstructions coordination activities in housing sector at the district level. In particular, he/she will:

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Support the District Coordinator to provide local government and housing sector partners timely, consistent and compatible data and information on coverage and gap for operational analysis and decision-making;
  • Act as HRRP District-level focal point in cross-sector or cross-coordination forum information management and analysis at the district level; work in coordination with relevant sectors or forums in  maintaining common district level information management tools for data collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination including archiving of baseline, key datasets, key indicators and other tools.
  • Assist in building and maintaining strong information sharing and dissemination mechanism among partner organisations, local authorities and other humanitarian actors. 
  • Support in the preparation of  district-level sector-specific maps and graphics on a regular basis that assist the District Coordinator, the HRRP Roving Hub Coordinator, and other district-level actors, in forward planning as well as impact and  gap analysis as well as giving strategic guidance on planning and coordination impact analysis;
  • Support the implementation of HRRP coordinated needs assessments at the district level, in partnership with relevant government authorities and agencies;
  • Assist in the organization of trainings and other capacity building activities on the use of reporting tools and other information management tools among HRRP stakeholders;
  • Provide information outputs in the local language wherever feasible;
  • Update timely the contact lists at the district level.
  • Assist the National/Hub level IM activities as required, particularly with collection and analysis of information in liaison with partners on the ground.
  • Regularly inform the HRRP Information Management Officer on activities, project status, and provide regular support as requested.
  • Participate in IM Network meetings as required.
  • Maintain and update meeting calendars, meeting minutes from district to HRRP website regularly.  
  • Any other related duties might be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Computer/IT or Social Sciences or development discipline related to Disaster Risk Management with 3 years’ work experience on related field.
  • Completed High School Degree with 5 years’ work experience in related field.

Experience 

  • Extensive work experience in challenging environments and operational activities in disaster/conflict affected areas will be an advantage.
  • Experience in international or governmental programme would be desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Offices, especially in Excel, Word.
  • Proved experience in data entering, processing and analysis. 
  • Knowledge in GIS will be an asset.  

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
