The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through an international network, ADRA delivers relief and development assistance to individuals in 130 countries—regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation, or religious association. ADRA in Nepal works in livelihood, health, education and disaster risk management sectors. Currently, ADRA Nepal has been implementing its programs in 21 districts of the country.

Details / requirements:

ADRA works in more than 120 countries around the world and is working in Nepal since 1987. It invites applications for the position of Gender and Social Inclusion Officer based at ADRA Nepal’s office at Sanepa, Lalitpur. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  At least Bachelor degree in Social Science or related field; at least 3 years experience as GESI Officer in development projects. 

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The GESI Officer is responsible to ensure gender equity and social inclusion in all aspects of project implementation. The GESI Officer will develop measureable indicators to monitor gender equity and social inclusion in the project and work with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to integrate those with project monitoring and information system. He/she is required to enhance the capacity of project partners and also ensure that their reporting system is aligned to track GESI data. He/she is also required to contribute in gender equity and social inclusion strategies of ADRA Nepal.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare GESI mainstreaming strategy of the project
  • Support in mainstreaming GESI in programme planning
  • Devise strategies to promote GESI in project interventions 
  • Design, plan, implement and coordinate all GESI related activities
  • Build the capacity of project team and partners in gender equality and social inclusion
  • Assess GESI practices of partners and technically backstop them to integrate GESI programmatically and institutionally 
  • Support to develop GESI related training curriculum and materials 
  • Sensitize local stakeholders (cooperatives, farmer groups, VDCs) in GESI and help them to internalize GESI friendly practices
  • Support in integrating GESI indicators in project monitoring system
  • Support to integrate GESI outcomes in reporting system of implementing partners
  • Undertake GESI impact analysis of the project activities
  • Prepare GESI related reports and case studies
  • Assist Cluster Coordinator in integrating GESI outcomes in quarterly and annual reports
  • Prepare communication materials to sensitize community and stakeholders in GESI 
  • Co-ordinate with different level of governmental and non-governmental institutions and stakeholders
  • Support in mainstreaming GESI in ADRA Nepal’s overall programme strategies
