PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Finance Assistant in IFRC/Danish Red Cross Country Office (DRC CO) is responsible for assisting DRC Finance Team in well-functioning of the financial tasks related to existing DRC running programmes and support Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) in financial issues for the effective implementation of program activities. 

The Finance Assistant will work within the DRC Country Office and refer to the Finance Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAIN TASKS

Accounting Duties

  • Check the invoices and ensure arithmetical accuracy consistency, cut off and sufficiency and appropriateness of the supporting documents
  • Entry of verified financial data and documents into DRC Accounting System AX-09
  • Ensure proper filing of the vouchers and other finance documents
  • Ensure all the documents related to finance are scanned and are filled in DRC Country Office and backed up in the DRC regional file server
  • Assist Senior Finance Officer in his day to day accounting work.

Admin Liaison

  •  Liaise with Admin officer to maintain records of assets/inventory on a regular basis.

Internal Control

  • Periodically conduct the physical verification of the assets
  • Periodically check the vehicle log books and the maintenance records
  • Assist Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer in their scheduled periodic monitoring visits
  • Carry out a sample check of the vouchers as directed by Finance Manager

Capacity Building of NRCS

  • Assist Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer during capacity development sessions, workshop and events.

Other

  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by Finance Manager.

QUALFICATION

 Technical qualification

  • Graduate in Accounting / Finance.
  • 2-year experience is preferred. Fresh MBA’s and part qualified CA/ACCAs are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel and E-mail) knowledge of Navision an advantage
  • Good level of written and spoken English and Nepali language skills.
