Details / requirements:

Norlha is an international non-profit, non-political, non-religious association based in Switzerland that supports remote communities in the Himalayas in building capacities that will allow their sustainable development, through integrated projects in food security, income generation and environment protection, with a strong focus on supporting women as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction project in Nepal. Thus, we are looking for potential candidate for the position of Field Technical Officer  for its projects in Rasuwa.

Field Technical Officer -Full Time

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technically guide the project team on activity implementation as envisioned by the project design through elaboration of each activity in close coordination with Project Coordinator and project team members in the field,
  • Support the project team in collecting data needed for monitoring and evaluation system,
  • Support the project team in building collaboration and coordination with locally active I/NGOs, VDC, district line agencies, and DDC in the districts,
  • Exploration of opportunities and identifying gaps for working together with other development partners in the areas of  livelihood and agriculture, migration issues, medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs), Rain Water Harvesting (RWH),  reconstruction, financial linkages and women empowerment for the rural poor in the district, 
  • Explore opportunities for establishing input-output oriented market linkages between local groups, cooperatives and external market actors for field product marketing,
  • Support and strengthen the project assisted partners like cooperatives, value chain actors, VDRR committee in close coordination with project team members
  • Provide agriculture related training as per the request made by the project team and monthly operational plan of the project,
  • Strengthen result based project management and result analyzing capacity of project team in the field,
  • Liaise with Project coordinator for project management and implementation in the project areas,
  • Work in close supervision of designated officer or program officer at Regional Office Norlha,
  • Report to Program Officer, Norlha Regional Office

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor in  Agriculture Science with at least 1 years of work experience in related fields 
  • Good knowledge and preferred experience on participatory research/ development approaches, gender and social inclusion, livestock management, agriculture extension, community mobilisation, market development and project development and implementation,
  • Experiences in greenhouse farming, ginger, and vegetables production and marketing,
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities living in remote areas of the country, 
  • Report writing skills

Position based: One (based in Rasuwa District) 

Contract Period: 11 months with possibility of extension
