Mercy Corps is an international, non-governmental humanitarian relief and development agency that exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities across the globe. Mercy Corps Nepal works to build the absorptive, adaptive and transformative potential of vulnerable individuals and communities across Nepal. The goal is attained through a systems based approach to market development, financial services, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and youth engagement, with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each intervention area. Mercy Corps Nepal invites applications from experienced and qualified Consultants/Firms for the proposal of Research on Product Development for Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) under Earthquake Recovery Program.  The overall purpose of this consultancy is to refine/ up-grade, design and develop member responsive financial products that will offer by SACCOs in the project target VDCs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES 

• Master’s Degree in Management, Social Science, Economics, or Statistics.  
• A sound track record in developing and conducting market research for financial product development of financial institutions, social research especially in the field of micro finance. 
• Well versed in cooperative principles, values, existing rules and regulations and directives regarding cooperatives in Nepal 
• At least 7 years proven experience in working in micro finance sector. 
• Proven record of using statistical analysis software 
• Experience in managing and coordinating evaluation/research exercises, delivering agreed outputs on time and budget. 
• Experience in data collection and analysis using participatory methodology. 
• Ability and flexibility to work respond to comments and questions in a timely, appropriate manner. 
• Ability to write high quality, clear and concise reports.

• Expression of interest (EOI) outlining how the consultant(s) will meet the above criteria and their understanding of Scope of Work (SOW) and methodology 
• A proposed activities schedule/work plan with time frame along with financial proposal including consultant(s) itemized fees / per day rate, and maximum time required to complete the assignment. MC will provide the actual travel and logistical support during the field work. 
• Copy of CV of consultant(s) who will undertake the survey 
• Copies of registration certificate, VAT/PAN registration and tax clearance certificate

Interested firms/consultants may download scope of work and tender documents from nepal.mercycorps.org and submit the proposal by July 11, 2016 not later than 11:30 a.m. in a sealed envelope in the address given below with a subject: Proposal for Research on Product Development for SACCOs.  Please register your submission of offer at the reception of the Mercy Corps office.
