EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) 

For Market System Analysis of Nepalese Coffee

Beautiful Coffee Nepal (BeaCoN) is a non-governmental organization established in 2014 as a resource center for coffee sub-sector development in Nepal. Currently, BeaCoN works in six districts of Nepal. With financial assistance from European Union, BeaCoN in partnership with Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal has been implementing Coffee Value Chain Development Project (CVCDP) in Kaski, Syangja, Palpa and Gulmi districts.  

BeaCoN invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from interested consultants/firms to carry out the Market System Analysis of Nepalese Coffee. The overall objective of this study is to analyze constraints and opportunities existing at each level of the coffee value chain, and suggest interventions based on the identified bottle necks.

Description of the work:

• Assessing current demand and supply situation of Nepalese Coffee
• Conducting Participatory Market System Analysis (PMSA) of Nepalese coffee sub-sector to identify leverage points based on existing constraints and opportunities 
• Exploring business intervention for each level of coffee value chain

Competencies required for the Consultant/s:

• The Lead Consultant should have at least a masters degree in agricultural economics or economics with a minimum of seven years of experience in coffee/agriculture project studies or a Ph.D. with five years of agricultural/market studies experience. 
• S/he must possess excellent statistical and quantitative data analysis skills;
• S/he must be well versed in trade-related data, import/export transactions, and should have knowledge of the policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to cash-based agriculture commodities.
