British Gurkhas Nepal is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person for the role of Mess Manager in our busy Combined Ranks Mess. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to rapidly changing requirements, be comfortable dealing with VVIPs, able to effectively manage and motivate staff and display a high degree of professionalism, organisation and commitment to quality at all times.

 

DUTIES (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES): 

  • The day-to-day running of the Kathmandu Combined Mess.
  • The supervision of the Kathmandu Combined Mess Staff in carrying out their daily duties.
  • Maintaining Staff duty rosters and planning a head for staff's leaves and advising the Mess Cater and Mess No. 1 on accounting.
  • Supervision of maintaining The Mess accommodation forecast and a ration account (AF F7751) and (AF F7764) and accounting of accommodations with support of mess staffs.
  • He/ She will be personally responsible for the Mess Bar and will check the daily consumption book and issue stock from cellar to bar.   He will ensure that everything is ready for the monthly stock check to be carried out by the Wine member and report to the Wines Member when stocks are likely to fall below the minimum level given to him/ her.
  • Consulting mess issues with PMC and seeking advice for better results.
  • Preparing Mess Bill for visitors, ensuring that all bills are cleared prior to their departure.
  • He/She is to ensure that all bills are authorized by PMC/Secretary and that they are paid.
  • He/She is to consult and discuss the fourth coming functions with the PMC / Event Manager at the end of each month.
  • Liaising with event organizer or PMC for the necessary arrangements of official functions and meetings.
  • Attending meetings held by PMC and cascading information to All mess staffs.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the mess staff; mess staff will come directly under him for discipline and work.
  • This post carries a requirement to work irregular hours including some evenings, weekends and   public holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

Experience in a management position within the high end hospitality field.

A good command of written and spoken English.

Knowledge of hotel accounting, stock accounting and event management and be comfortable delivering in all of these aspects.

 

BENEFITS: 

Salary will be NPR 61,456.00 (E1) per month and based on working of 40hours per week. The post benefits from comprehensive medical care, including 100% reimbursement for immediate dependents, up to a specified amount per year and Gratuity and Provident Fund packages as terminal benefits.  The post received 24 days paid annual leave plus up to 16 days public and privilege holidays per year.
