DRR Expert

DEPROSC-Nepal is one of the implementing partners of Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition (KISAN) Project (funded by USAID) being implemented in 20 districts in western regions of Nepal. The primary objective of the KISAN is to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger in Nepal by achieving inclusive growth in the agriculture sector, increasing the income of farm families, and improving nutritional status, especially of women and children. Position: DRR Expert, KISAN, Regional Office, Nepalgunj (One)
 
Major Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design and implement DRM activities as per contract and/or DIP,
• Coordinate with various DRM stakeholders such as DDRC, DEOC, VDMC, NCDMC, other right-based organizations, DRM clusters, service providers and
• Design and executive DRM activities, develop and update contingency plans of partners and user committees,
• Produce and ensure effective use of IEC materials, 
• Remain in touch with local electronic media such as FM, TVs and cable operator so as to be able to spread the disaster related messages when necessary,
• Organize training on DRM to user committees and stakeholders,
• Lead the responses on behalf of KISAN as per the mandate and budget line if disasters like earthquake, flood, fire and landslide affect KISAN communities,
• Create awareness among KISAN staff and communities on disaster preparedness,
• Undertakes other works assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification And Experience:

• University (or equivalent) degree in Disaster Risk Management/Civil Engineering Environment Science with five years of working experiences in development projects

Capacities:

• Coordinate with multiple clusters of a big scale program in multiple districts, 
• Lead and efficiently administer key staffs,
• Skills in monitoring, evaluation, program reporting, presentations,
• Good social mobilization and interpersonal skills. 
• Skills in monitoring, evaluation, program reporting, presentations.
