Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) was established in April 2010 with a mission to have concerted public health action, research, and policy dialogue for health development, particularly of the socio-economically marginalized population. Details / requirements:

Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) is seeking dynamic, energetic individuals for the SPARSH project   related to maternal, neonatal, child health nutrition and hygiene in Makawanpur starting from February, 2016.

Position: District Programme Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Programme Director

DUTY STATION: Hetauda, Makawanpur with regular visit in the project VDCs

JOB SUMMARY

SPARSH project will be implemented in five VDCs of Makawanpur where the majority of people are marginalized e.g. Chepang and Tamang. The project objective is to improve the maternal, neonatal child health nutrition and hygiene practices by increasing access to related information and services. The project will be implemented for 24 months.

District Programme Coordinator’s (DPC) major role is to ensure the smooth planning and implementation of the project at the district level. DPC will carry out the regular monitoring and supervisory visit in the project VDC and provide the technical support to the project staff. DPC will be responsible for managing day to day operation of the project at district level and coordinate with the government counterparts, relevant stakeholders at the district level.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

  • Master in Public Health( MPH) with wide experience or Bachelor in Public Health (BPH) with 5 years experience of managing health programme preferably maternal, neonatal, child health and nutrition & hygiene activities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience of planning and implementation of health activities
  • Familiarity with the structure and functions district health system
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation tools and relevant statistical package
  • Good interpersonal and communication skill and ability to coordinate the team and the government counterparts
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Nepali
  • Strong conceptual thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent report writing and data analysis skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning and Implementation

  • Assist the programme director to prepare the quarterly plan and monthly plan of the project
  • Lead the project team to develop the manual, guideline for the field level activities
  • Take the lead role to conduct the induction training and preparation of curriculum, resources
  • Form the district advisory committee and conduct the periodic meeting to exchange the learning of project and receive feedbacks.
  • Ensure day to day operation and management of project activities at the district level
  • Assist the programme director to prepare the formative research plan, develop scope of work and coordinate at the district level.

Monitoring ,Evaluation and Documentation

  • Assist the team in developing the recording, reporting tools
  • Regular  visit to project VDCs to facilitate the smooth implementation of project and  to provide technical support
  • Coordinate and organize the joint monitoring visit of the district health office and relevant government counterparts
  • Submit the weekly and monthly update of the project on the predesigned format
  • Assist the programme director to finalise the quarterly progress report with statistical and qualitative information
  • Prepare process documentation and ensure that the best learning of the project are properly recorded
  • Disseminate the findings, learning of project at relevant forum at district level with prior approval of programme director.

Coordination

  • Coordinate with relevant district stakeholders such as district health office, district development committee, Women development office, district education office, water and sanitation division and other government counterparts
  • Monitor the project activities and carry out surveillance on MNCHN and wash in coordination with district health system
  • Maintain cordial relationship with the relevant forum at the district level and exchange the knowledge and learning of the project with prior approval of programme director
  • Other related activities as necessary.  

SALARY: Negotiable

DURATION: Two years

DEADLINE: February 11, 2016
