Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking a Chief of Party candidate for an anticipated USAID-funded Health Systems Strengthening Project in Nepal. This project aims to increase access to and utilization of equitable health services, improve quality of health services, and improve health system governance. The project will focus on improving health outcomes, particularly for the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups, by increasing access and utilization of equitable, accountable and quality maternal, child and reproductive health services, with specific focus on newborn care.

Duties: 

The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for 1) assuring that all assistance provided is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to be addressed and 2) adequately managing and supervising the work of all organizations and individuals engaged under the project. The COP will be expected to play a leading and substantive role in developing and implementing all activities; s/he shall be the lead person for Cardno in liaising with USAID, government counterparts, and other stakeholders to exchange information and develop professional relationships.

The COP will have the strategic vision, leadership qualities, technical expertise, professional reputation, management experience, and interpersonal skills to fulfill the diverse managerial requirements of the project. The COP will manage the technical teams, ensuring coordination of goals and efforts across the entire project effort. 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in public health, medicine, social development, business administration or relevant field
  • Experience in Nepal and/or South Asia region leading implementation of large donor-funded health programs 
  • 10+ years of mid to senior level project management experience - prior Chief of Party or similar level position experience is necessary
  • Ability to build team capacity and delegate authority effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional Fluency in English
  • Nepali nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
