Mercy Corps works in Nepal to protect strengthen and expand resilience strategies and opportunities among the poor and disadvantaged through economic, finanical and risk managemennt programs. mercy Corps began operations in Nepal in 2005, and since then has implemented projects in the sectors of economic and food security; climate, natural resource and disaster risk management; youth engagement; with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each interventation area. Mercy Corps has been implementing Protecting and Mainstreaming Information Sector Safety Nets (PROMISE) project funded by The European Union in Panchthar, Taplejung, Bhojpur, tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Doti, Bajhang and Baitadi and Sustainable Access to Finance and Livelihoods (SAFAL) project funded by UKiad in Panchthar, Taplejung, Bhojpur, tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Banke, Rukum, Kalikot, Jumla, Kanchanpur, Doti, Bajhang and Baitadi with the goal to reduce poverty in remote and rural areas of Nepal, Particularly hill and mountain communities through sustainable access to finance, appropriate livelihood opportunities and local instituion strengthening.

Mercy corps Nepal invites applications from experienced and qualified Consultants/Firms for bid for the proposal of:

  1. Client Survey for PROMISE project: The main objective of Client Survey is to assess status of the indicators of project logframe.
  2. Baseline Survey for SAFAL project: The main objective of the survey is to assess the baseline and current status of the indicators of project logframe using pre-post questions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Masters degree in Social Science, Economics, Developement Studies or Statistics
  • A sound track record in developing and conduction research specially in the field of microfinance.
  • At least 5 years proven expereince in working in microfinance sector.
  • Proven record of using statistical analysis software.
  • Expereince in managing and coordinating evaluation, research exercise, delivering agreed outputs on time and budget.
  • Expereince in data collection and analysis using participatory methodology.
  • Ability and flexibility to work respond to comments and questions in timely, appropraite manner.
  • Strong command over Engliish especially ability to write high quality, clear and concise reports.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) outlining how the consultant(s) will meet the above Criteria and their understanding of ToR and methodology.
  • A proposed activities schedule/work plan with time frame along with financial proposal including consultant(s) itemized fees, data collection, administrative and logistic cost.
  • Copy of CV of consultant(s) who will undertake the survey.
  • One recent example of similar survey report written by applicants, including the contact of client.
