Chemical Engineer

With experience and successful ecopreneur business in Nepal, EcoConcern is expanding to other countries in South and South-east Asia. We are inviting job applications from young and energetic engineers (chemical, electrical, mechanical) who have the potential and ambition to become international experts in the sanitation sector. National and international training in their specific fields will be organized followed by assignment to project areas in South and South-east Asia.

Position: Chemical Engineer

Responsibility: The primary function of the Chemical Engineer is to contribute in the design, development and testing, installation and O&M of innovative Faecal Sludge and Wastewater  treatment and management solutions with a focus on chemical, biochemical and physical properties of chemicals and compounds in the treatment process. The incumbent will work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure the process plants run efficiently and effectively considering economic and environmental factors.

The following tasks are envisaged:

1. Design, install and commission innovative Faecal Sludge and Wastewater processing systems, including development, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting.

2. Optimise Faecal Sludge and Wastewater treatment by analysing chemical and analytical processes.

3. Research new products and systems from trial through to commercialisation and improving product lines.

4. Ensure that potential safety issues related to the project operator, the environment, the process and the product are considered at all stages.

Minimum qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with minimum 2 years of working experience Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with one year of working experience;

• Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions, conceptual and strategic thinking;

• Self-motivated and organized with “team work” ethics;

• Ability to travel, stay and work in the field within and outside the country even during emergency settings;

• Knowledge and experience on faecal sludge and wastewater treatment and management would be additional value.
