Job Title: Assistant Project Officer

Based in Hetauda (Covers the whole district), Some VDCs in Bara, Parsa, Chitwan, Rupandehi and Kapliavastu and some other places in country when needed. The position is 70% field based (Reintegration), 15 % Care Home and 15% Youth Support Project.

ABOUT ORGANISATION:

The Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation (EBMF) is a non-profit making, non-political, non-sectarian and Non-Government Organisation (NGO). The Organisation was set up in order to rescue the trafficked, displaced and separated children from their families by traffickers and compelled to work in Circuses in India and other various places. It has been rescued over 700 children from different places and most of them have reunified with their family and community and supporting them for education.  The organisation has been providing educational support to 575 needy children. We have been supporting Local Government Schools in Makawanpur District for ‘Basic infra-structure’, ‘Health and Hygiene’ and ‘Mid-Day Meal’ encapsulating awareness knowledge on ‘Anti-Trafficking’ in these local schools and communities. The organisation has high respect to the rights of the children and promoting their fundamental rights to be with their own family and the native community.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide instant assistance to Rescue Coordinator, Program Coordinator and Project Officers.
  • Conduct extensive field visits such as visiting families, relatives and village of the children, assess the socio economic and family status of children and link them with each other.
  • Assist to reunite the children with families/relatives where possible.
  • Assist to prepare individual child care plan and family support plan carefully, post reunification support plan or placement care plan, monitoring calendar and make sure of its proper implementation.
  • Undertake regular review of family support worker, livelihood worker and other significant agencies or people involved.
  • Having some knowledge on Income Generation Activities
  • Maintain and update a recording and reporting system in a timely manner along with each and every single incident in child individual folder.
  • Ensure that all the legal formalities and compliances have been fulfilled and documentation approval of every work has been compiled with and completed properly.
  • Build network and work with the local schools and community to monitor the reunified children’s developments thereafter.
  • Prepare and keep up-to-date database of every case (Case Files), Events, Supports given, achievements, incidents record and report of every single activities performed in the field on time.
  • Prepare assessment report, review report, monthly and quarterly reports and submit them on time.
  • Able to live in remote areas under basic circumstances in an insecure environment and work closely with a small team
  • Basic knowledge on child psychology, child development and easy going with children to deal with them, knowing them and their problems
  • Communicate with Programme Officer (Anti-Trafficking) about immediate needs of semi home and take needful action to fulfill such immediate needs or emergency support in Care Home.
  • Prepare and implement care plan for each child and provide regular update of children residing in child care home
  • Having some knowledge in the field of Higher Education and Vocational Training and undertake regular review of youth getting support from the Youth Support Project.
  • Liaise with government offices (Particular but not limited to Women and Children Development Organization, District Development Committee, District Education Office) and maintain a good professional relation with GOs and NGOs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Nepali Citizen
  • Minimum intermediate (+2) level of education in any discipline
  • Good communication in Nepali and basic English (Knowledge in local languages will be an added advantage)
  • Good in official correspondence and report writing
  • Two wheeler license holder
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and email internet
  • Ability to work in a team and good knowledge of protocol ladder
  • Having experience of event management, arrangement of meetings, arrangement of travels, other formal and informal programs
  • Having a great willingness to take initiative to change the life of those people living in poor condition in remote areas of the district

TERMS:

The contract will be for one year with the option to extend based on performance. Salary and other benefits as per policy of Esther Benjamins Memorial Foundation (EBMF).

WORKING HOURS:

These are 40 hours per week, normally 9 am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.  However, because this is a charity appointment the post holder will frequently work out of hours or at weekends.
