The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following positions based in Chautara, Sindhupalchowk.

Vacancy Notice No: VN#NP/112/15

Position Title: Assistant Nurse - 4 positions

Classification: SAI, 6 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – 3)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients from admission to discharge 
  • Perform dressing changes and other procedures for patients who have undergone surgery 
  • Administer medications and collaborate with health care team regarding patient prognosis and treatment plan 
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report changes in their health status to the Facility Manager and counterparts at the district hospital
  • Coordinate on a daily basis with an interdisciplinary team for optimal patient care and maximum caregiver engagement 
  • Report patient progress to the Medical Coordinator and the triage focal point at the district hospital when requested 
  • Participate in nutrition, sanitation and hygiene promotion programs organised in the facility 
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and caregivers at all times 
  • Prepare patient discharge and referral with paramedics and referral health workers 
  • Compile patient files, and enter data into the facility database on a weekly basis 
  • Assist in the transfer of patients to/from district hospital care or tertiary care in Kathmandu and community outreach when required
  • Work collaboratively with the team through effective leadership and motivational skills
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor/s 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Certificate level in nursing from recognized university with one year relevant experience. Valid license to practice is requiredPrevious experience in the field of orthopaedic patient care or neuro-rehabilitation care is an advantage 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill. 
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with people of various backgrounds, ages, etc; respect for diversity 
  • Capacity to work independently and under time constraints. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds 
  • Excellent communication skills (working knowledge of English required)
