The Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) is an international non-governmental organization working in more than 15 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. CECI’s mission is to combat poverty and exclusion. To this end, it builds the development capacities of local disadvantaged communities, supports peace, governance, human rights and equity initiatives, mobilizes resources and fosters the exchange of knowledge. 

Currently, CECI Nepal is implementing a Canada Government Funded PUNARNIRMAN Project aimed at improving livelihoods of earthquake affected population in Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok and Lalitpur districts.To join PUNANIRMAN Project Team, CECI Nepal invites application fromsuitable candidates for the following position.

Position: Area Coordinator

Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree (with preference to Masters’ degree) in Social science, Economics, Agriculture or related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of extensive experience in social mobilization, community development, and livelihoods promotion.

Department: PUNARNIRMAN Project 

Reports to: Project Team Leader

Duration: 2 years fixed-term

Location/Travel: Kathmandu with frequent field trips (min 50% time in the field) 

JOB PURPOSE:

The incumbent will be responsible for overall coordination, representation, facilitation and oversight of all district level project activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Lead and coordinate all field level activities in coordination with relevant stakeholders;
  • Guide/coach /facilitate staff of project implementing partners (i.e. local NGOs) to carry out their duties efficiently;
  • Coordinate and facilitate district level events related to studies/assessments, workshops, training and formal/informal interactions with project beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders;
  • Liaise with local government officials, civil society/community leaders, political parties and other key stakeholders at the district and village levels; 
  • Prepare project related documents/reports.

Required Competencies

  • Strong desire& motivation to work for the benefit of socially & economically marginalized people.
  • Hands on experience in market system development approaches.
  • Practical experience in promoting private and public sector players’ engagement in pro-poor market system development.
  • Excellent command in report writing and data management.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
