Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation (EBMF) is an NGO based in Lalitpur. It is forefront of the fight against trafficking, provides supports for trafficking survivors and works to prevent trafficking from vulnerable rural communities across the country. We are seeking candidate who have passion to work in a dynamic team as an Accountant in our Kathmandu and Hetauda Offices.

Position: Accountant

No. Of Position: 2 (Kathmandu Based and Hetauda Based)

Minimum Qualification and Other Requirements

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Studies with two years experience in Administration and Finance, or should have completed Article ship training of Chartered Accountancy course conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal/ India with exposure preferably in I/NGO sector.
  • Good communication skills, working experience on accounting software and good command in written and spoken English.
  • Able to handle office correspondence independently.
  • Able to ride motorcycle with valid driving license.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide financial and administrative support to the programme team to implement project activities related to achieving the objectives stated in the project document and the agreement with EBMF by following management guidelines and administrative and financial rules in practice within organisation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

FINANCE

  • Manage the accounts of EBMF effectively
  • Collect invoices/bills and make payment ensuring the prevailing financial rules and regulations
  • Keep financial documents and records to meet the organisational and project requirements,
  • Report to Country Director, EBT Nepal on the financial performance on periodic basis,
  • Operate the bank account(s), prepare drafts and arrange for fax transfers against the payment of services and supplies as necessary,
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for EBMF and partners
  • Compliance of Income Tax Act 2058, Nepal relating to tax issues and withholding of taxes while making payments,
  • Make advance payment of travel allowance, per diem and travel advance,
  • Handle petty cash,
  • Reconcile bank accounts and report to donor organisation
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Get books of accounts audited well in time for submission to Board of Directors for their approval for onward presentation to the General Meeting.

OTHER

  • Providing accounting services to the concerned, especially the status of budget and expenditure on quarterly basis or as and when required,
  • Keeping project staff aware and informed of changes to accounting system/structure/ procedures through training/presentation,
  • Managing for purchase of the supplies, materials, equipment and physical facilities,
  • Visiting project sites as necessary to be familiar with the field activities,
  • Assist the process of financial and project annual audits and;
  • Other responsibilities as directed by EBMF committee and EBT Nepal.
  • Involve and take responsibility for auditing and organisational renewal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Studies with two years experience in Finance and Administration preferably within I/NGO sector.
  • Good communication skills, working experience on computer software and good command in written and spoken English
  • Able to handle office correspondence independently

Contract period:  Initially for one year - possibility of extension.
