BACKGROUND:

NNDSWO is going to implement a new project entitled "Assist Haliya Community to Achieve Full Rehabilitation from Slavery & Labour Exploitation" five districts (Baitadi, Bajhang, Bajura, Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur districts) in partnership with ANTI-SLAVERY INTERNATIONAL. The main funding donor of the project is UK Department for International Development (DFID). The project period is for three years. The project will facilitate empowerment of freed-Haliya Community (HC) and break cycle of slavery & labour exploitation through: ensuring participation & representation of the HC, particularly women, in rehabilitation process; introducing innovative participatory tools to improve HC oversight and participation in rehabilitation process; improve HC children education outcomes through provision of tuition classes in order to re-enrol children and assist performance at school; and improving HC employment, livelihoods and income-security through provision of vocational and skill development training to older freed-Haliya children and young adults.

Currently, we are seeking competent, committed and dynamic candidates for the following position:

Accountant - 1 No (Dadeldhura based)

JOB PURPOSE:

Support for financial management, accounting and administration of the project so that project operation can run smoothly, effectively and efficiently in all project districts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist to Field Manager in planning, organizing and implementing the project activities;
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping, book keeping and financial documentation of each (program/activity) expenditure on behalf of the project and as per the organizational accounting standard and state rules and regulations to be followed;
  • Prepare monthly compiled financial report of all five project office with all supporting documents in each months and send it to the central office within set reporting deadline;
  • Coordinate and support to prepare and submit quarterly fund request of the project on timely manner;
  • Carry out bank transactions and activities as and when needed to meet requirements such as bank deposit and withdrawal;
  • Coordinate with Sr. Admin and Finance Manager at Central office as and when required;
  • Ensure bank statement management by preparing request letter, collection and reconciliation of statement;
  • Maintain the assets register ensuring its accuracy; and maintain the stock book of non-recurring items ensuring inventory maintained at appropriate levels;
  • Support daily operation of coordinating district offices;
  • Frequently travel other project districts for financial documentation checks, and support;
  • Coordinate with District Staff and Board Members as and when required.

Requirements:

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree in management and have a minimum of three years of work experience in NGO accounting and financial management.
  • Computer literacy is must with good skill in Excel.
  • Skill of software based accounting is required and the knowledge of FAMAS software operation will be preferred.
  • Understanding of GoN rules and regulations, acts and policies regarding non-profit/social sector
  • Able to work independently under pressure of deadline
  • Proven experience in financial reporting
  • Excellent communication skills in both Nepali and English
  • Good team work and coordination skill
  • Previous work experience in DFID funded project will be added advantages.
