SNV Nepal and its partners are looking for Women Empowerment / Social Inclusion Specialist to be working for a potential upcoming multi-year project in the Agriculture sector (dairy and vegetable value chains). This position is contingent upon funding.

The project is intended to increase sustainable investment in agribusinesses with smallholder supply chains and increase the involvement of poorer smallholders in those supply chains.

The project will increase economic opportunities for smallholder famers by:

  • demonstrating the commercial viability of agribusinesses with significant smallholder supply chains;
  • deepen the smallholder impact of investments by investors;
  • enable more smallholder farmers to engage with commercial markets.

The position will provide long and short-term technical assistance to farmer organizations and SME agribusinesses to understand the existing and potential markets for dairy and vegetables in Nepal and facilitate change that enables smallholder farmers to consistently and profitably participate in commercial markets.

Job Description

  • Develop women empowerment and social inclusion strategy for the project
  • Develop women empowerment and social inclusion tools for the project based on the existing practise of SNV and other international organisations
  • Support project partners in use of the women empowerment and social inclusion tools
  • Monitor women empowerment and social inclusion KPI’s
  • Document knowledge and best practise

Profile

  • Understanding of incentive based contract farming principles
  • Demonstrated experience on Women, Social and Economic Empowerment
  • Proven track-record on working with PPPs / Enabling Environment
  • Understanding of incentive based contract farming principles
  • Demonstrated experience on Women Social and Economic Empowerment
  • Affinity with smallholder development, cooperative development and SME development

Qualifications

  • Master degree, in Sociology, Management, Agriculture or relevant field.
  • At least 5 (five) years of experience in women empower and GESI is required, preferably in similar development contexts as Nepal.
  • Having experience in Donor funded programme/project will be an added advantage;
  • Experience of working with Local Partners, Local NGOs, government agencies, Development Partners, Civil Society organisations and integrating them into program implementation.
  • Fluency in written and oral English and Nepali
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong skill on training design and facilitation
  • Good IT skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Aspiring for good service delivery with strong people centred skills, and interpersonal skills, committed, pro-active and dynamic
