Gorkha Gaun Resort was born out of a dream to create a place of retreat in a small gaun (village) environment. Using local resources our team works to provide a space to relax while ensuring the sustainable development of the local community. As an initiative to Responsible Tourism, Gorkha Gaun generates most of its electrical energy from solar panels, has plans for its own waste water treatment and water recycling systems, harvesting bio-gas, harvesting and recharging rain water. Gorkha Gaun has total of 16 rooms in operation with restaurant/bar and outdoor seating. Our total team members will be around 20 – 25 during our full operation period. Our Vision is to be recognized as one of the best resorts (in our category of resorts) in Nepal by 2020. We try to take sustainable approach in everything we do. Tour Guide /Guest Relation Associate – 1 based in Gorkha 

Job Description

As a tour guide, you will be expected to lead groups of visitors through points of historical, cultural, heritage interest of Gorkha and mid hills surrounding Gorkha. You should be equipped with in-depth knowledge about history of Gorkha and mid hills of Nepal. You should have good knowledge of flora and fauna of mid hills of Nepal and particularly about Gorkha. As a guest relation associate your responsibilities include greeting clients as they arrive, coordinating their check-ins to assigned rooms and informing them about the Gorkha Gaun’s facilities. You will also make sure our staff, offer great customer service and provide memorable hospitality experiences for our guests.  

Ultimately, you will manage guest services and Gorkha Gaun’s image by answering guests’ requests and making sure our visitors are satisfied.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with management, provide upscale guest service experiences for clients throughout their stay by taking the guests to village hikes/walks, scheduled tours to Gorkha Durbar etc. 
  • Ensure guests are provided great experience during activities such as hikes, historical and heritage site visits in Gorkha Durbar, museum etc. 
  • You will be expected to develop and successful implementation of a wide range of responsibilities including activities for guests from different countries and background 
  • Monitor daily bookings and ensure assigned rooms are prepared prior to check-in 
  • Actively listen to and resolve complaints and promptly response to guest’s request 
  • Ensure special guests, like differently abled people, elderly, children , receive personalized services
  • Coordinate and manage communication between guests and staff and follow up to ensure we resolve customer concerns 
  • Inform clients of our hotel services, including breakfast and dining options 
  • Promote all hotel amenities, conveniences and programs offered
  • Establish friendly relationships with regular hotel clients

Requirements: 

  • High School (10+2)  or 2-year degree from an accredited college in Hotel Management, or relevant subject will be an added value 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field will be an added value 
  • Minimum of one - two years of professional experience in the relevant field 
  • Experience as a guide or guest relationship in a resort set up  will be an added benefit
  • Have a capability for communication, with the ability to resolve issues in a timely and accurate manner
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali 
  • Good working knowledge of basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel and email 

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Starting salary will depend upon the experience and qualification 
  • 6 month probation 
  • After probation review, Dashain Bonus and other benefits will be applicable
