Nepal Red Cross Society manages CEHP (Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Program) in collaboration with Swiss Red Cross since 2001. The service of this program are implemented Mid-West Region (MWR) of Nepal. The core services of CEHP are Community Health and WASH, HIV prevention, sensitization of NCDs and strengthening capacity of Red Cross and community network. The program was mainly implemented in Jajarkot, Dang, Rukum, Rolpa and Dolpa districts in previous phase. The new phase-VII of the programme is being implemented from July 2018 to June 2021 with the continuation of two components-Health and WASH in Province 5 (Dang and Rolpa district) and Province Karnali (West Rukum and Kalikot district)

Nepal Red Cross Society, Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Program (CEHP) Nepalgunj invites applications from suitable and qualified Nepali citizen for the following position.

Position: Technical Coordinator (Level 5)

Number: One

Duty Station: Nepalgunj , with frequent travel to other project   districts

Duration: Contract period up to 31 December 2017 with possibility of extension

Minimum Requirements: Diploma in civil engineer (PCL) from recognized college/institute.  At least 2 years work experience on designing, construction and supervision of rural water scheme institutional/buildings. Need excellent communication/facilitation & motivation skills. Ability to communicate and write reports both in English and Nepali languages. Computer skills include use of AUTOCAD and use of Office Applications. Age bar is 18-40 yrs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of WASH unit of NRCS-CEHP, the incumbent  is responsible to ensure all activities related to Community Health and WASH are implemented in a timely, efficient  and sensitive manner in coordination/collaboration with other projects in CEHP. The staff member is expected to work with the highest degree of moral behavior and conduct adhering to the Red Cross Movement Code of Conduct and seven principles. The code of conduct is integral part of the working contract.

The employee will be stationed in Nepalgunj, although s/he has to spend required time in the program field to ensure the effective implementation of the programme.

In order to achieve the results, the Technical Coordinator (sub-engineer) will carry out regular stakeholder consultations, field visits, liaison with district chapters, organizations as well as target beneficiaries and end-user agencies. Detailed scope of work includes;

  • Support implementation of the project according to the project design and log-frame under WASH-CH component in CEHP.
  • Carry out social and technical activities related to water and sanitation in WASH-PHC programme.
  • Support development and implementation of appropriate water scheme and other options for different communities.
  • Carry out feasibility study and detail survey for possible water schemes
  • Prepare the design and cost estimate of different water supply systems such as water lifting system, gravity fed, rain water harvesting, Spring protection etc.
  • Support closely to Water Users' and Sanitation Committee (WUSC) for the management of water scheme construction and also ensure the quality of the construction of water schemes and sanitation facilities.
  • Support for development and implementation of appropriate toilets for different communities.
  • Support organization and facilitation of water and sanitation related workshop, training and orientations as required.
  • Make regular visit to the programme areas to monitor and observe progress of the project and also to provide technical support to the DCs, sub-chapters and communities.
  • Support to develop/design necessary IEC/BCC, formats, manuals, guidelines, tools for water and sanitation related activities.
  • Maintain coordination and linkages with relevant stakeholders to achieve the optimum results.
  • Support to record the programme related information/documents properly.
  • Fulfill other assignments given by the CEHP.
