FHI 360 an international NGO, is seeking highly qualified and dynamic Nepali citizens to join its team for the following position:

SURVEILLANCE AND RESEARCH OFFICER

The Surveillance and Research Officer (SRO) will be responsible for providing support to the Surveillance and Research Specialist (SRS), for providing technical and strategic leadership to carry out surveillance and research related work in close collaboration with key stakeholders such as NCASC, FHD, HIV Board, NHRC, WHO, GFATM PRs, UNAIDS and USAID. The SRO will provide ongoing support to SRS for the conceptualization, implementation and reporting of research studies, and assist with the in-depth analysis of FP and HIV related epidemiological, research and program process data.

she/he will be responsible for:

  • Support SRS in the design and development of research, studies, protocol and guidelines to support national program.
  • Support to SRS to provide technical assistance to NCASC on estimation and projection of HIV infections and to HIV and STI Control Board on design, implementation and analysis of the population size estimation studies of most at risk populations as well as to contribute to UNGASS reporting
  • Assist SRS in the design and implementation of IBBS surveys and SGS and research related training program/packages for local research agencies as well as members of the beneficiary groups.
  • Manage database and files of FHI 360 Nepal research results and data which provide evaluation and monitoring indicators for FHI 360 Nepal. Support SRS to analyze and prepare research summaries for FHI 360 Nepal and other organizations as requested.
  • Assist SRS to coordinate with Nepal Health Research Council and FHI 360 Nepal’s Protection of Human Subjects Committee (PHSC) to ensure that research protocols are internally acceptable standards.
  • Create and update research related data presentations for the various program reporting requirements, presentations, program reports and other deliverables as needed.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor studies being implemented, to interact with program implementing agencies (IAs) to share study recommendations and to ensure that study recommendations are understood and adopted in the programs properly.
  • Carryout background research to understand global and regional developments in HIV related research work including research topics and methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Public Health or Epidemiology, statistics or related social science Five years minimum work experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, statistics. The candidate should have knowledge and experience of HIV and other relevant health programs in developing countries, especially in Asia and familiarity with standard statistical methods in research and with qualitative research methods.

SKILLS/QUALITIES:

  • Skills and experience in program management, field research, complex further/data analysis, data utilization, publication, operational research, disease surveillance, program assessments will be an asset.Ability to work in the team and develop and maintain positive working relationships. Proactive and independent approach to work with willingness to undertake additional responsibilities and perform multiple tasks.
