JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE OF WORK

TITLE: Supply Chain Logistics Officer

PROJECT: Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) Nepal

General Summary and Background:  The purpose of the Global Health Supply Chain (GHSC) – Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) project is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of USG-funded public health initiatives around the world. In Nepal, GHSC-PSM is working with the Logistics Management Division (LMD) of the Department of Health Services to

• Improve the performance of the healthcare supply chain
• Improve data accessibility and use in decision making
• Enhance the supply chain professionals 

GHSC-PSM is seeking logistics professionals in with expertise in warehousing, transportation, forecasting and/or supply planningto join our team. This is an opportunity to join develoment field in a promising career focused on helping others. Qualified candidates are not required experience with the government of Nepal, health, or development, but a demonstrable track record of accomplishment and experience in supply chain professionalism and best practices is required. Additional experience in capacity building and training is helpful. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Assist in the development and implementation of activities and tools to improve warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and distribution at the regional, district, and health post levels.
• Support monitoring and evaluation functions in gathering and reporting data
• Maintain constructive relationships with counterparts within the regional, district stores, and health post and provide feedback and insights from the field.
• Provide input to project reporting ad assist the supply chain logistic team in meeting all contract deliverables.
• Ensure that that USAID regulations, Chemonics policies, and quality management best practices are enforced consistently.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time in consultation with supervisor of record.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management or warehousing
• B. Sc. or equivalent experience in supply chain logistics; advance degree a plus
• Self-starter, outgoing, and results oriented
• Experience organizing and delivering capacity-building interventions such as training and mentorship programs a plus
• Proven problem solving and decision making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
• High proficiency in English and Nepali required.

Supervision

The Supply Chain Logistics Officer will report to Supply Chain Optimization Component Leader.

Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment 

This position is based in Kathmandu with travel in Nepal. Approximate start March, 2017.
