Position Summary

RTI's International Education Division is supporting education development around the world by strengthening education policy, management and practice in order to achieve measurable improvement in teaching and learning. From our well-established reputation in education system strengthening, to innovative work in early grade assessment and learning, RTI is improving education quality, relevance and efficiency through implementation of projects funded by USAID, DFID, Australian Aid and other donors and clients.

The International Education Division is currently accepting applications for Social Inclusion Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded five-year project to improve early grade readingin Nepal. This is a full-time position with residency in Nepal providing technical leadership and quality assurance for the selection of best practices for the replication, design and implementation of NEGRP materials and curricula that specifically address issues of social inclusion within the project.  S/he will evaluate and support related program activities promoting gender equality and raising awareness and inclusion related to disability, disaster risk reduction, health, and caste/ethnic origin.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide cross-cutting support to ensure inclusive content and messaging throughout project activities, including assessment development, material development, community mobilization and outreach messaging.
  • Inform and assist policy dialogue with the MOE to encourage policy, incentive, and or training development that would improve gender and caste/ethnic balance at the national, district, and school level.
  • Collaborate with Training and Coaching Delivery Specialist to ensure that MOE trainings, including district and school administrators, includes GESI components.
  • Provide targeted technical assistance in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to build the MOE’s monitoring and evaluation capacity to collect appropriate data in support of inclusion indicators.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Nine years of relevant field experience in educational development, with specific experience in primary-level reading programs and instructional materials/curriculum development, teacher training, and literacy improvement.
  • Experience in meaningful collaboration with government and ministry counterparts, and local capacity development.
  • Experience in Nepal required.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
