We were among the first INGOs on the ground and operational following the earthquake, providing medical treatment and essential supplies. Our technical staff on the ground now includes physicians, nurses, surgeons, as well as specialists in water, sanitation and hygiene, mental health and psycho-social support and nutrition.

Details / requirements:

The Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) senior officer will be collaborating closely with the LNGO and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the provided psychosocial counseling and support in the health facilities and the communities. This position is based in the field and is for a Nepali national.

Essential Duties:

The MHPSS senior offcier will be working together closely with the LNGO to ensure the quality of psychosocial services that are provided in the health facilities and in the community through the (co)facilitation of mentoring and supervision and (co)facilitation of different psychosocial related trainings that are being provided to different levels of service providers. This also entails working together with the LNGO to develop and advise on the technical content of training materials and IEC materials. The senior manager is familiar with international guidelines for the design and implementation of MHPSS programs as stated in the IASC guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Emergency settings and WHO's mhGAP.

The MHPSS senior officer will be coordinating and monitoring the functionality of the referral mechanisms in the districts and problem solving and making adjustments where necessary, in collaboration with the LNGO.   

The MHPSS senior officer will be responsible to collaborate with the LNGO in obtaining monitoring and evaluation data and will be able to regularly submit reports about their findings and observations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Completed master in Psychology or Social Work with a clinical counseling background

Extensive clinical experience, working with MHPSS beneficiaries (>2 years)

Training and supervision experience required

Previous experience providing MHPSS services on community level

Fluent in Nepal and English

Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
