Details / requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Manager Shelter and WASH and Partner Staff in ACTED Earthquake Response in implementation of Shelter, WASH, relief and rehabilitation activities.  This includes project monitoring and the provision of technical guidance and implementation support to community partners and ACTED staff in Shelter and Relief interventions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Manager Shelter, WASH and Relief counterpart(s) and partners to
    • Apply criteria for Shelter Rehabilitation and selection of site.
    • Overseeing partner staff in and/or conducting house hold  damage surveys, rehabilitation and design of Shelters, and field implementation
    • Verification of the appropriate standard materials used in Shelter and Relief activities.
    • Capacity building of Skilled and Unskilled Labor working on shelters
    • Ensuring sound shelter rehabilitation and monitoring progress against performance indicators
  • Ensure timely and efficient monitoring and evaluation of project activities
  • Identify opportunities for new initiatives based on the indigenous knowledge of the communities.
  • Contribute to the development of Shelter repair and construction standards for PM – Shelter
  • Assist in the design and implementation of other complementary flood relief & rehabilitation interventions.
  • Report about the progress and field activities to Program Manager Shelter.
  • Perform any other task assigned by Supervisor/Head of Office


Emergency Response:

  • "The (Designation) may be called upon as part of their roles and responsibilities to participate and/ or provide support in emergency response situations when and where required in consultation with their supervisor."


Key Working Relationships:

  • Internal: Program Manager Shelter and  HR/Admin Manager, Warehouse and Operation Officer, Head of Office, Programming staff.
  • External: Partners/community, Local suppliers, Skilled and unskilled labour
  • Travel: Regular travel to Field


Professional Skills:

  • Diploma in associate engineering, preferably with a civil engineering background
  • At least 2 years experience in Shelter design and rehabilitation or WASH design.
  • Social mobilization experience preferred
  • NGO experience preferred, including training and provision of technical support to partners/communities


Personnel Skills:

  • Excellent English and Nepali 
  • Flexibility; ability to work as a team in a multicultural context
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team building and management skills
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft office products


Duration:

  • Initial contract period is for 03 months, with the possibility of extension.
