One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that has been working in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) since 2011. OHW works with local communities and local health service providers to develop a culturally appropriate Network of Safety around mothers and infants, by raising awareness, teaching good practices, and distributing essential equipment to ensure that mothers and infants survive delivery and the first months of life.

One Heart World-Wide (OHW) Nepal is an INGO working in the field of Maternal and Child Health. OHW Nepal is seeking to recruit a qualified Nepali Citizen for the position of Senior Account Officer .

Required No (s): One

Senior Account Officer: Full-time position based Kathmandu Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of Administrative Director, the incumbent ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions and preparing reports on time including:

  • Assists the AD in the administration and oversight of OHW funds in coordination with OHW headquarter guidelines.
  • Maintains local accounts on the Books computerized accounting system; enters and codes all transactions in the Books.
  • In coordination with human resources, processes monthly payroll to personnel.
  • Initiates all checks and other payments to vendors.
  • Works closely with district coordinators and district based finance and admin assistants to maintain district based transactions.
  • Estimates monthly and quarterly cash needs of Nepal office and prepares the request for wire transfers from OHW headquarter.
  • Maintains financial management files of backup documentation for all local transactions as required by OHW regulations and donor policies, including files for vendors and grantees, and ensures audit trail for all necessary documentation.
  • Maintains local audit file, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous financial filings.
  • Identifies potential accounting discrepancies and works with the AD and Country Rep. (CR) to effectively research, track and resolve these issues.
  • Monitors central and district budgets to ensure program expenditures versus milestones and reimbursements.
  • Coordinates with necessary technical and finance OHW Nepal team members including district teams to compile project financial reports.
  • Conducts other general accounting duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting and at least 5 years of work experience (or Masters plus 3 year of work experience) in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, auditing, and/or taxation for an International Organization, development partners or donor funded project.
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, ACCA), or significant progress toward obtainment of designation preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or experiences in accounting, financial planning and management, accounting transactions, budgeting, reporting and ensuring compliance of internal control systems.
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles.
  • Significant experience using digital accounting Books highly desirable.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical ability.
  • Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity and confidentiality and ability to work in a team setting.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and fluency in English and Nepali.
