Retort Overseer

STARIC/N is a non-profit NGO, established in 2004 to provide quality consulting services for the promotion of various development sectors in general and RETs, water/energy, gender and entrepreneurship sectors in particular.STARIC/N has been working in the field of applied research benefiting the rural livelihood particularly focusing in sustainable energy and the improved technologies in cohesion with the local social dynamics. 

STARIC/N is looking for qualified, experienced, motivated full time staff; Candidate with the required qualification and competency are invited to apply for the position.  

Position: Retort Overseer

DUTY STATION: Based in Makwanpur with frequent field visits 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with all relevant stakeholders to promote and disseminate the charcoal production technologies Provide technical back-stopping support during charcoal retort (kiln) fabrication ensuring the retort quality and support in retort operation ensuring the production of quality charcoal.
• Act as active team players for regular interaction with various types of industries for charcoal application ensuring the establishment of linkages and marketing of retort technology and products.
• Plan and coordinate R&D activities to improve the energy efficiency and emission reduction in charcoal production and application technologies and recommend the necessary modification for technology development
• Work together with team for capacity building service provider on charcoal production, charcoal application and marketing
• Coordinate and mobilize resources for implementation of project activities
• Maintain good relations with all stakeholders
• Document lessons learned and present the result in national and district level sharing event
• Provide progress reports according to the program defined system
• Support in planning and implementation of project activities. 

Professional Experience and Competency

• At least 3 years of working experience in the mechanical/civil engineering sector and proven success in technology development and application 
• Hand in  experience of capacity building of enterprise working in renewable energy technologies 
• Proven experiences of working with multi partners involvement project/program 
• Good in observation skill and share the learning/experiences
• Ready to go in the field very frequently 
• Result orientated personality/maintaining deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal, inter-cultural competencies and good team player
• Fluency in Nepali and English, both written and oral
