Accelerating Investment & Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN)

The Accelerating Public and Private Investment in Infrastructure Component (APPIIC) of the UKAID funded Accelerating Investment in Infrastructure in Nepal (AIIN) programme is managed by IMC Worldwide. The Major Projects Group (MPG) is funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development through its APPIIC project, and provides support to the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and other GoN ministries and agencies on investment promotion and the delivery of public infrastructure. MPG would like to invite application from the competent candidates for the following position to be based in Office of the Investment Board of Nepal (OIBN).

Research Economist (Required No. 1)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Analysis and preparation of research reports on Nepalese economy, fiscal policy, Monetary policy, banking, financial position and other policies which may affect the investment climate;
  • Following, analyzing, preparing research report and presenting to CEO of OIBN and Senior Management on important developmentsinregional and global economic conditions, infrastructure development, investment outlook, scenario & pattern, and other relevant economic information;
  • Developing and maintaining quantitative models to assess the outlook for economic conditions, regional &global investment climates, Investment scenario, sectors and exchange rates;
  • Prepare research report, sectoral profile and cases in the areas of Hydropower, Transport, Industrial, Tourism, Railways, Solid Waste Management, Solar, Special Economic Zone, private investment and other Infrastructure sectors;
  • Any other activities and roles assigned by CEO of OIBN and Senior Management.

Education

  • Master’s in Economics, Finance, Accountancy and other relevant professional degree.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • A proven track record of conceptualizing and executing own economic research and proficiency in the use of computers forWord processing, economics tools & techniques, database & Excel.

Experience and Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in research, economic analysis, financial analysis sector in a large institutionwith the competencies in some or all of the following: (i) Self-motivated, (ii) Team player (iii) behave ethically (iv) communicate effectively (v) foster teamwork (vi) lead, organize, plan, execution and (vii) solve any kind of complex problem or cope any complex situation,

Working Conditions

Research Economistis assigned to work in IBN Office's own designated station in line with set days and office hours.  However, the job also requires off-hour works to complete the assigned task within stipulated time and occasional trips out of the working station also fall under the assignment.
