In partnership with the USAID funded Child Blindness Program, HKI-Nepal is conducting a research project“Adaptation of technology and strengthening systems for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) management in Kathmandu Valley”and is seeking applications from qualified, energetic and self- motivated Nepalese citizens for the following short-termposition: 

This is a full time consultancy for six (6) months, based in HKI-Nepal, Chakupat and rotating among three participating hospitals in Kathmandu Valley for data collection. 

Position: Research Assistant -1 (Short Term )

Location: Kathmandu

Description

  • Maintain a logbook of high-risk babies meeting the criteria for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening from three participating hospitals.  
  • Enter, update and complete datasheets of new born babies (neonates) requiring screeningin liaison with the respective hospital staff. 
  • Maintain an appointment log book of the ROP neonates.   
  • Upload information on datasheets in a computer system. Verify and analyze the data entered. 
  • Assist the ROP team in each hospital during the eye examinations times with collectingand entering data. 
  • Responsible to contact patient party to ensure follow up of the newborns for their eye examination, andto document the process. 

REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

Education:   

  • Bachelor degree in Statistic, Research, Demography or equivalent related subject.

Work experience: 

  • A minimum of 2 (two)years of work experience in Research including Data Entering and Analysis.

Skills:   

  • Ability to use SPSS, Excel, STATA, NVivo, Atlasti 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
