VACANCY ANNOUNCMENT

Rural Access Programme – Phase 3 (RAP3) is a 6-year DFID funded programme operating in 14 Districts of Nepal. It aims to improve people’s incomes and resilience through employment, sustainable access to markets and improved access to economic opportunities. Scoping Study for Safer Communities (SS4SC) works with communities in Mugu to assess safety needs and awareness, through participatory research methodologies, using innovation and technology including mobile phones and radio. 

Applicants are currently invited for the following position with qualifications as follows:

Position: Research Assistant (1 position)

Location: RAP 3 Office, Kathmandu

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in International Development, Public Health, or related field (such as project evaluation, research methods, or statistics) with minimum 1 year research experience. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Assist with research implementation, field visit planning, data collection, data entry, research analysis, and communication with stakeholders. S/he should haveproven knowledge and skills in data entry, data cleaning, data analysis, and use of qualitative software and statistical packages, ideally proficient in Excel and SPSS. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite including Word and PowerPoint is a must.Experience using ICT including mobile technology, radio, and social media platforms an asset. Excellent written and spoken English and Nepali is required, other local languages an asset. Experience in interpretation and translation in English and Nepalimandatory. Ability and desire to travel to Western Nepal to project site/s in Mugu with approximately 60% fieldwork.
