Action Nepal partnership with OXFAM is seeking dynamic energetic and result oriented professionals for the following positions to intervene WaSH, SHELTER, EFSVL,DRR and GENDER Project in 2 VDCs (Satyadevi and Tripureswor) of Dhading district.

Public Health Promotion Officer:

Job Location: Dhadingbesi with regular field to programme VDCs

Educational Qualification: Bachelor in Public Health

Reports to: Project  Coordinator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with other members of the WaSH team, conduct assessments and baseline studies in order to identify WaSH-related health risks and priorities.
  • Mainstream Gender and ensure the participation of all vulnerable groups in all the activities.
  • Use assessment data to design participatory PHP interventions appropriate for the local context and culture.
  • Ensure the formation of user committees with the equal participation of Male and female, and strengthen them for the sustainability of the WaSH activities.
  • Identify, train and mobilize WaSH committees and community health volunteers and enable them to effectively undertake the hygiene promotion outreach and mobilization activities in the community.
  • Ensure WaSH committees and volunteers are able to supervise, manage and monitor the WaSH facilities and mobilize affected communities in taking action to improve high risk hygiene practices.
  • Ensure the Implementation of hygiene promotion interventions for specific target groups e.g. school children, women and men groups
  • Mobilize and support to PHP Asst. and social mobilizors while implementing the hygiene promotion activities in the VDC level.
  • Ensure the bi-weekly action plan of the PHP-Assistant and regular follow up the plan.
  • Prepare the case studies.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Professional skills and qualification needed in the position

  • Bachelor in Public Health and at least 2 years experience in related field;
  • Excellent communication skills (empathy, knowledge sharing, participative approach methodologies)
  • Experience in community development, health, social mobilization in Humanitarian /development field.
  • Practical experience in implementing projects with community participation and volunteer support.
  • Previous experience in community based work with NGOs and/or international organizations in the fields of water, sanitation, health and behaviour change
  • Basic knowledge of computers, Good planning, reporting and organization skills would be an asset
  • Good communication skills both in English and Nepali
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances
