Action Nepal partnership with OXFAM is seeking dynamic energetic and result oriented professionals for the following positions to intervene WaSH, SHELTER, EFSVL,DRR and GENDER Project in 2 VDCs (Satyadevi and Tripureswor) of Dhading district.

Public Health Promotion Associate:

Duration :6 months (renweable)

Job Location: Dhadingbensi with regular field to programme VDCs

Educational Qualification:  Bachelors in Public Health or HA, Diploma in Nursing,

Job Purpose: under the direct supervision of the PHP Officer, PHP assistant directly works for the health promotion component of the programme

Reports to: Public Health Promotion Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Work collaboratively with PHE-Assistant throughout planning designing and implementation of the WaSH Program. 
  • Ensure the participation of vulnerable groups and mainstream gender in all stages (Assessment to the implementation) of the PHP programs.
  • Provide regular update reports (including data collects, minutes from meetings, and key achievements for the week) 
  • Conduct Hygiene needs assessments, including personal interviews at household level, facilitation of FGD, site visits and meet with key members of community.
  • Form user committees, child clubs and strengthen and mobilize them for the sustainability of the WaSH activities. 
  • Conduct School and community hygiene promotion activities (i.e. hygiene promotion classes and menstrual hygiene classes to adolescent girls youth, school hygiene campaigning)
  • Train and Support to FCHVs to conduct the hygiene promotion session among Health Mother Group (HMG) meeting.
  • Assist to conduct the mass campaigning, triggering activities in the VDC level by mobilizing child club mothers groups, FCHVs and other local volunteers to disseminate the hygiene promotion message
  • Enhance technical knowledge and skill of SM and mobilize for the implementing the hygiene promotion activities in the VDC level.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:  

Professional skills and qualification needed in the position 

  • HA, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelors in Public Health with at least 2 years of work experience in WASH sector or in public health & sanitation.
  • Good communication skills both in English and Nepali
  • Experience in community mobilization and organize appropriate community health & sanitation activities.
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances

Personal qualifications needed in the position

  • Committed to rights based and gender sensitive work place, Gender mainstreaming with strong social mobilization skills and sound knowledge in PRA tools and hygiene promotion tools. 
  • Commitment to basic workplace values and policies 
  • Work according to the objectives of organization and donors
  • Able, willing and committed to work with people of different backgrounds

  • Able to cope with stress and work under difficult circumstances
