HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal is a Swiss non-governmental organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of poor and disadvantaged people in Nepal.

Community Practice in Schools for Learning Climate Change Adaptation (COPILA) /HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal is a climate awareness and community adaptation project. The project aims to increase the resilience of the men and women in the working area against the negative impacts of climate change in Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, and Banke districts. COPILA has initiated a pilot project in Dailekh aiming at building women's leadership in local institutions by tackling unpaid care work for increased participation and representation of women in livelihood initiatives and engaging in development and implementation of climate change adaptation. COPILA/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal invites applications from Nepali citizen for the following position:

Position: Project Officer (for women only)

Duty station: Kathmandu with 50% field travel

Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension) 

Required education, experience and competencies:   

Bachelor degree in Social Science, Gender Studies or in any relevant field. Master degree will be an advantage. Minimum three years of working experience in development project implementation with the experience in unpaid care work, women's rights and climate change. Good experience and understanding of unpaid care work and women's rights is sought from the candidate.

Major Roles and Responsibility:

  • Take lead in planning and implementation of different programmatic interventions focusing to recognise, reduce and redistribute women's engagement in unpaid care work to improve on women's representation at local level institutions and climate change adaptation work.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops and training to recognise, reduce and redistribute women's engagement in unpaid care work to improve on women's representation.
  • Take lead on building women's leadership and agency in local institutions. 
  • Engage in evidence based policy advocacy on the related issues 
  • Knowledge management of the project and develop different publication materials.
