The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through an international network, ADRA delivers relief and development assistance to individuals in 130 countries—regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation, or religious association. ADRA in Nepal works in livelihood, health, education and disaster risk management sectors. Currently, ADRA Nepal has been implementing its programs in 21 districts of the country.

Details / requirements:

ADRA works in 135 countries around the world and is working in Nepal since 1987 with its Health interventions, Economic Development and Livelihood, Education, and Disaster Risk Management activities.

Populations in the large cities like Kathmandu valley in south Asia region are increasing day by day and areas are becoming denser. The trend of urbanization in Kathmandu has been high and is likely to remain so in the future due to rapid population growth and migration. To contribute in addressing the problem, “SURAKSHIT SAHAR” (Safer Cities) also known as PRIME- Urban DRR project in Kathmandu valley has been designed as a joint initiative of Urban DRR consortium led by ADRA Nepal, DCA, WVI and LWR. The project will build on the learnings of previous Urban DRR initiatives and efforts.

ADRA Nepal is seeking applications from interested and eligible candidates for the post of Project Officer-PRIME (Safer Cities). The candidate the ability to deliver results with the highest level of integrity and accountability

The project Officer will be responsible for overall project planning, implementation, management, reporting and documentation. S/he will also be responsible for supporting the overall monitoring and documentation of the project to maintain and ensure quality program delivery along with documentation of best practices, lesson learned and other relevant documents. S/he will responsible to develop capacity of the staffs and stakeholders through various approaches as well as representing the organization at district level.

Term and Location: Initially the term is for 6 months with possible extension. The position is based in ADRA Nepal Country Office, Sanepa Lalitpur with frequent field visits.

Required Qualification: At least Bachelor’s Degree in social science with minimum 3 years of experience in DRR related project management. Handy knowledge on Urban DRR is desirable.

Required Knowledge and Skill: S/he should have in-depth knowledge and skills in program designing, planning, monitoring, review, and reporting including developing monitoring indicators and tools/checklists. S/he should be able to support and guide program supervisor effectively managing monitoring process and documentation and in-depth knowledge on DRR is essential.  The position holder should possess interpersonal communications and coordination skills to work effectively in multi-cultural setting with a wide variety of stakeholders and be sensitive to child safeguarding policy. A strong command of English & Nepali languages and good knowledge of MS office & statistical package is a must.
