Established in 1990, Banke UNESCO Club is a non-government organization and registered under the District Administration Office, Banke and affiliated to Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu, The establishment of the organization has been inspired by the ideals of non-violence, social justice, self-reliance, sustainable development and volunteerism. The organization is dedicated to the ideals of holistic and integrated development based on a harmonious balance of socio-culture, material, scientific environmental aspects and increase in literacy rate of Disadvantaged, Marginalized, Deprived, and other Poorest of Poorer groups (POP) including women and child by providing quality education.

Banke UNESCO Club (BUC) has signed a contract with RTI International for implementing and managing the community mobilization component of the Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP) in Banke district. The overall purpose of the community mobilization of EGRP is to increase family and community support for improvement of early grade reading for children from grades one to three. BUC will work directly with School, SMC, PTA, Tole Reading Group and all relevant community forums in close coordination with District Education Office (DEO) and Resource Centre (RC) for implementing activities related to community mobilization of EGRP in Banke district.

Banke  UNESCO  Club  is  inviting  applications  from  suitably  qualified  and  experienced  candidates  for  the following positions to implement community mobilization component of EGRP in Banke district. Title/ Position: Project Coordinator

DESCRIPTION/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible to implement community mobilization activities under community mobilization of Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP) to increase family and community support for Early Grade Reading Program in communities of Banke district.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work/science, or related field
  • Experience in community mobilization
  • Experience working with donor-funded grants and/or contracts
  • At least 3 years’ experience in implementation and providing technical inputs on community mobilization and strengthening capacities of community forum.
  • Experience in team leadership, coordination or direct management role
  • Experience in early grade reading, primary education and ECD sector is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Oral fluency in English, Nepali and local language
  • Reporting skills in English and Nepali is a must.
