POSITION TITLE: Project Coordinator

DUTY Station: Ilam Municipality, Ilam Nepal

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

DURATION: Initially for 1 year with possibility of extension.

START DATE: As early as possible.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

PROJECT SUMMARY: Winrock International, Ilam Municipality, PlaNet Finance and Namsaling Community Development Center (NCDC) is jointly implementing a Switch-Asia Project, “the Sustainable production of commercially viable products from municipal wastes through public-private partnerships in Green SMEs, Green City, Green Agro Products, and Green Employment Generation” (PPP for 4Gs) Project in Ilam Municipality with the financial support from the European Union. The four-year “PPP for 4Gs” project will pioneer an innovative public-private partnership (PPP) between Ilam Municipality and the private sector that fuels a commercially-driven cycle of municipal solid waste management. This project aims to promote four dimensions of sustainable solid waste management as: Green Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Green City, Green Agriculture and Green Employment Generation. Establishment and operation of compost plant through PPP to produce high value compost fertilizer for vegetable and tea farms remains one of the major goals of the project.

POSITION SUMMARY: Support in the implementation of “Sustainable production of commercially viable products from municipal wastes through public-private partnerships in Green SMEs, Green City, Green Agro Products, and Green Employment Generation” (PPP for 4Gs) Project in Ilam Municipality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master degree or equivalent in Environment, Energy, Management, Engineering or other relevant field
  • At least 5 years of working experience in project implementation, project coordination related with solid waste management or relevant field.
  • Sound understanding and experience of project planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent analytical, management skills and a team player.
  • Proficiency in computer skills ( MS word, Excel, Power point)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Having a clear idea regarding public and private partnership model would be preferable.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the overall guidance and immediate supervision of Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties.

  • Plan on-going and future interventions and activities in order to achieve outcomes and impacts as defined in the project document and log-frame.
  • Planning, coordination, implementation and/or support to implementation and monitoring of project activities in the project area.
  • Provide guidance and support to the project partner and its staff members in assessing the context and needs of the project.
  • Summarize, evaluate and update the program on a regular basis in accordance with the established planning schedules.
  • Represent the project towards all stakeholder (Municipality, local CBOs, project partners, service provider) when and as required for the project implementation.
  • Maintain information flow and good relations with local bodies, line agencies, CSOs, media and other project stakeholders.
  • Support the organization and facilitation of events (dialogue meetings, workshops, training and seminars) with participation of civil society network, project partner and the team.
  • Oversee the general management and smooth operation in the project district.
  • Manage, oversee and review daily project activities of the project site.
  • Create and manage presentations, memos, letters, manuals, agendas, and other correspondence on behalf of the project in the project district.
  • Supervise and guide local project team.
  • Ensure that programs and events run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Represent Winrock International in workshops; training and interactions organized by partner organizations, local government bodies and other relevant organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Project Manager.
  • Report project activity progress to the Project Manager.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned by Program Manager
