Details / requirements:

Norlha-Helping People in the Himalayas, a Swiss based INGO is currently looking for   potential candidate for the position of Programme Officer, National Position  for its Regional Office in Nepal for its ongoing projects in  Rasuwa, Humla and Dhading . The duty station of the Programme Officer is Kathmandu with frequent visit to project sites. Details of the responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications for the position are presented below:

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate regional office local NGO partner programmatic development training activities,
  • Monitor on a day-to-day basis Norlha local NGO partners to ensure project compliance and that the concerned project is on time and within budget,
  • Work with partners to develop project proposals for donor funding that meet Norlha criteria,
  • Provide an independent and comprehensive evaluation of solicited and unsolicited project proposals submitted by partner as well as other NGOs to the regional office Team,
  • Organize, conduct and analyze as required community based research in collaboration with Norlha project INGO and local NGO partners.
  • Conduct as needed community based research in collaboration with approved Norlha project INGO and local NGO partners, i.e. community beneficiaries’ assessments; activity assessments; etc.
  • Maintain records of project based results in designed or another computerized software,
  • Draft headquarter reports based on the requirements of Norlha – Switzerland and will forward same to Head of Regional Office. Once approved will forward said reports to headquarters,
  • Draft the monthly, quarterly, and annual regional office project/ programme reports required by the regional office internally and when communicating on project activities with their local INGO collaborators and local NGO partner organizations, government authorities,

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor is Agriculture Science with three years of working experience in similar capacity specifically in agriculture project management/ livelihood project management, Master in Agriculture Science or related development field with one year working experience in similar capacity specifically in agriculture project management/ livelihood project management,
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work duties as well as work competently under pressure and tight deadlines,
  • Knowledge and experiences in gender, capacity building, and monitoring, and evaluation,
  • Good computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package ( Word and Excel, Power point) and knowledge on data analytical software will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in both written and verbal Nepali and English. French would be an added asset,
  • Native Language Nepali
  • High level skills in project planning, implementation and management,
  • Strong communications, analytical, coordinating and report writing skills,
  • Frequent visit to project site.
