World Education works with disadvantaged communities and vulnerable population seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for three field based positions.

Job Title: Program Officer

Duty Station: (a)Dailekh & Jajarkot (b) Bajhang & Dadeldhura (c) Baidati & Darchula

Project: Food for Education Project

Supervisor: Program Coordinator

The Program Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator.  She/he will also be required to work and liaise closely with World Food Programme, District Education Offices, Nepal Red Cross Society personnel, and other district level stakeholders.   

Major responsibilities

  • Conducting and facilitating Early Grade Reading activities that includes teacher trainings, orientation, materials supply, review meetings, assessments and ongoing monitoring and  evaluation of project activities 
  • Providing technical support to NGO partners, government line agencies and school governance bodies (e.g. SMC, PTA, Resource Persons)
  • Coordinating and supervising all project related activities in two (2) assigned districts, including liaison, and monitoring NGO activities;
  • Assisting the Project Coordinator with project planning, implementation and evaluation;
  • Collecting and contributing to preparation of periodic progress reports based on donor and management requirements
  • Financial oversight of NGO partners in designated areas, including review of budgets, project expenses and monthly vouchers.
  • Coordinating project activities in the assigned two districts;

Qualifications / Experiences

  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting trainings
  • Minimum three (3) years work experience with preference to Early Grade Reading
  • Possess a Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent work experience in relevant field
  • Willingness to walk and work in remote areas
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle
  • Basic computer knowledge on MS Word, Excel, Power point  
  • Strong communications and facilitation skills
