Program Officer 

“Improving the Sharing and Use of Data as Evidence for Development in Nepal” Project

Are you interested in data to drive evidence-based development? Apply for the program officer position and get a chance to help strengthen the demand for, supply and use of open data to inform decision making, implementation and monitoring of poverty reduction, development and humanitarian efforts. The Asia Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the development of a peaceful, prosperous, just, and open Asia-Pacific region. The Foundation supports programs in Asia that help improve governance, law, and civil society; women's empowerment; economic reform and development; and international relations. Drawing on more than 50 years of experience in Asia, the Foundation collaborates with private and public partners to support leadership and institutional development, exchanges, and policy research. The Asia Foundation invites applications from interested candidates for a program officer position for its “Improving the Sharing and Use of Data as Evidence for Development in Nepal” Project implemented in partnership with Development Initiativeswith funding by the Department of International Development of the UK Government.

Nepali citizens who meet the following requirements are requested to apply:

PROFILE: Experience working with a wide range of government agencies; Knowledge on (open) data, statistics or evidence for development strongly preferred; Strong program implementation skills; Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills in particular with government; Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali; A willingness to work closely in team settings with other staff and grantees; A proactive and independent work style with strong initiative and passion to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in political sciences, public policy, international development, economics,  social science or a related field with a minimum of three years of experience working in international development in Nepal.
