SAHAMATI(An Institution Dedicated For Community Plus Humane Development) SAHAMATI is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making, member-based social development organization established in 2001/11/12 (kartik 27, 2058) by a group of professionals and development workers with long experience in community development. This organization has been registered as an NGO under the organization registration act of Nepal. Global problems like climate change, poverty, social discrimination and migration influence Nepal's development process, demanding diversified answers. Underprivileged groups are often excluded while designing development program, unfortunate for them. SAHAMATI aims to make a change by addressing the huge challenges of the 21st century with a community-centered approach, focusing on social justice and social transformation, human rights development and self-help promotion. SAHAMATI has built a large network composed of diverse social groups, national and international organizations and like-minded institutions and have been launching various kinds of community-centered programs on collaboration. A range of internal programs have been developed and implemented independently through SAHAMATI under Theme 2 (Learning and Innovation) are coordinated through our own resources. SAHAMATI is affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC), NGO Federation of Nepal, Federation of Democratic NGO (FEDEN), Peaceful Schools International Canada, Resource Centre for Primary Health Care Nepal (RECPHEC), DP Net-Nepal, DCCAM Network-Nawalparasi, Tobacco Control and Health Rights Network- Nepal, Coady Alumni, ARI Alumni and Gender and water Alliance-Nepal

Details / requirements:

SAHAMATI (An Institution Dedicated for Community Plus Human Development), a national level NGO working for Theme 1: Economic Development & Livelihood Promotion, Theme 2: Governance & Advocacy, Theme 3: Environment Protection & Disaster Risk Reduction, Theme 4: Learning, Innovation & New Business Development is seeking for highly motivated & qualified Nepalese citizen for the following post based in central office Gaindakot, Nawalparasi District (East).

Position: Program Director

RESPONSIBILITIES WITH GIVEN TOR

Office Administration and Management

  • Manage and supervise the day to day office running environment.
  • Implement the policies of organization under the guidance of Executive Committee.
  • Disseminate the official information to members of the organization, the line agencies and stake holders.
  • Organize meeting among the program heads as schedules or as per need and provide strategic guidance.
  • Review the terms of reference (TOR) of staffs as periodically and monitor their work.
  • Provide strategic guidance to develop the concept papers and proposals as well as review the progress reports prepared by Program Officer and Project Head.

Learning, Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Updates the information of partnership and internal programs and synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices.
  • Identifying and codifying good practices for knowledge building and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure the quality of organizational publications. 
  • Consult with program advisors and program coordinators for the better management of different programs of SAHAMATI.

Public Relation and Coordination

  • For organizational enhancement attend and possibly host a range of fundraising event, new program inaugurations and public relations events.
  • Regularly coordinate with the internal and external stakeholders as well as other best wishers.
  • Provide an authentic public face on the behalf of organization.
  • Must keep a spotless personal reputation because of the additional scrutiny and has to consider himself on duty at all time as a representative of the organization.
  • Ensure effective linkages with other development and likeminded partners.

Other responsibilities

  • For the quality insurance, provide the necessary guidance for internal and partnership programs.
  • Based on the Executive Committee decisions provide the other support for organization.
  • Develop periodic plans and report of the organization and communicate to the executive committee.

Accountability

  • Make sure that the internal and partnership program are functioning smoothly and timely.
  • Make sure that program progress reports and other organization publication are in right time.
  • Make sure that proper coordination is maintaining with concerned agencies and informed at right time.

Competencies, Experiences & Qualification :

  • At least Master Degree in social science/sociology or relevant subject with at least five years' experience in relevant field.
  • Excellent command on spoken & written English & Nepali.
  • Strong project design, report writing & documentation skills with English & Nepali language proficiency.
  • Strong communication, networking & team building skills.
